Betting the 2026 UK Championship: York, Best-of-Eleven Matches and Our Outright View
The 2026 UK Championship runs at the York Barbican from 28 November to 6 December, the first Triple Crown event of the season. Matches are best of eleven until a best-of-nineteen final, and that short distance shapes the outright, handicap and century markets more than the names in the draw.
The UK Championship is the first of the season's three Triple Crown events, and the only one of them where every professional has a way in. The 2026 edition is at the York Barbican from Saturday 28 November to Sunday 6 December, with a prize fund of £1.5 million and £312,500 for the winner. Anyone reading uk snooker championship odds should start with one number: eleven. Every match before the final is best of eleven frames, and that short distance does more to the prices than any name in the draw.

Thirty-two players reach York: the top sixteen seeds and sixteen qualifiers. The qualifiers come through a separate event at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester from 21 to 26 November, which means they have already won matches that week, while the seeds play their first frame of the tournament in York. Sessions at the Barbican start at 1pm and 7pm.
| Item | 2026 detail |
|---|---|

| Defending champion | Mark Selby |

The money has risen sharply. In 2025 the fund was £1,205,000 and Selby collected £250,000, so this year's champion earns a quarter more, and the ranking points that come with it carry the same weight.
The favourites, on rankings and recent finals
The world rankings published on 5 October, after the Shenzhen Open, set the order the market will start from. Zhao Xintong is number one, Wu Yize has climbed to number two, and Judd Trump, Neil Robertson and Mark Selby complete the top five. Ronnie O'Sullivan is thirteenth, Ding Junhui fifteenth.
The UK Championship's own record adds detail the rankings miss:
- Judd Trump has reached the last two finals. He beat Barry Hawkins 10–8 in 2024 and lost to Selby by the same score in 2025.
- Mark Selby defends the title. The 2025 win was his third UK crown after 2012 and 2016, and his first Triple Crown success since the 2021 World Championship.
- Zhao Xintong won this event in 2021, beating Luca Brecel 10–5, and arrives as the highest-ranked player in the game.
- Ronnie O'Sullivan holds the record with eight UK titles, the most recent in 2023 against Ding.
- Neil Robertson won in 2020, edging Trump 10–9 in the closest final of recent years.
- Ding Junhui won in 2019 and lost the 2022 and 2023 finals.
Few events give a market this much history to lean on, and it explains why the same handful of names head most lists of uk snooker championship odds. It does not mean one of them wins. The short format sees to that.
Why eleven frames helps the outsider
A simple model shows how much match length matters. Treat each frame as an independent contest and give the stronger player a 60 per cent chance of winning any single frame. Over best of seven he wins the match about 71 per cent of the time, over best of eleven about 75 per cent, over best of nineteen about 81 per cent and over a World Championship final of thirty-five frames about 89 per cent. Real frames are not independent, because confidence and fatigue carry across them, but the direction holds: the shorter the match, the more often the weaker player gets through.
The 2025 event showed it before York had even started. The three highest-ranked players in qualifying, Ali Carter, Chris Wakelin and Jak Jones, all went out in the third qualifying round. Twelve Chinese players then reached the last 32, a record for a Triple Crown event. In a best-of-eleven match a player who wins two or three scrappy frames early can be out of sight before the favourite settles.
When you read uk snooker championship odds for the outright, that argues against stacking money on the shortest price and for spreading it across a draw that will lose several seeds in the first weekend.
Outright and each-way bets on York
An each-way bet is two bets of equal stake: one on the player to win, one on the player to place. In a knockout of thirty-two, the place part normally pays if the player reaches a set stage, and the stage and the fraction of the odds paid both differ between sites. Before backing anyone each-way, check how many places are paid and at what fraction, then run the numbers through our each-way calculator to see what a run to the semi-finals or the final actually returns.
Each-way suits this event better than most. The favourites are short because their names are familiar, while players ranked between six and sixteen can win four best-of-eleven matches in a row without needing an exceptional week. The place part keeps the bet alive if one of them goes deep and then meets a top-five player in the last four.
Frame handicaps, total frames and correct score
The frame handicap is where most of the value in short snooker matches sits, and it is the market in the uk snooker championship odds that rewards a view on the match rather than on the player. In a best-of-eleven match a favourite at -2.5 frames must win 6–3 or better. Using the same 60 per cent frame model, that favourite wins the match about three times in four but covers -2.5 frames less than half the time. A price that looks short on the match winner can be close to even money on the handicap, and the gap between the two is the question to think about: will this match be one-sided, or close?
Total frames in a best of eleven run from six to eleven. A line set at the midpoint asks the same question from another angle. Two evenly matched players who both score heavily tend to push the total up; a seed against a nervous qualifier can be over in seven or eight frames.
Correct score has twelve possible results in a best of eleven, from 6–0 to 6–5 either way, which keeps the prices long. In the final there are twenty possible scores, and the last two finals both finished 10–8, a reminder that the longer match still leaves room for a close finish.
Century breaks and the 147 market
The 2025 UK Championship produced 118 century breaks: 83 in qualifying and 35 at the main stage. Spread across the 31 matches played in York, that is a little over one century per match on average, by our arithmetic, with the long final adding more than its share. Century lines in the uk snooker championship odds are therefore close calls at the player level: one century in a best of eleven is a typical outcome, not a rare one, and the over or under line is often set around it.
Two maximum breaks were made in the 2025 qualifiers, by Liam Pullen and Chang Bingyu, and they were the 15th and 16th of that season, a record at the time. A 147 special for the whole event, qualifying included, rests on a lot more frames than a bet on the York stage alone. Read which frames count before you place it.
Our view on the 2026 UK Championship
The following is our opinion, and it should be read as one view among many when you compare uk snooker championship odds.
Our pick to win: Judd Trump. Two finals in a row at this event and third in the rankings. The format has not hurt him in York, and his scoring is suited to short matches where a quick start decides things.
Our each-way pick: Wu Yize. Second in the world after Shenzhen, but without a Triple Crown title yet, which in our view keeps him behind the household names in most outright lists. Last year's last 32 showed how many Chinese players the event now rewards.
The one to oppose early: the defending champion in a best-of-eleven against an in-form qualifier. Selby's game is built for long matches. That is an opinion about the format, not about his form.

Snooker is easy to follow live because play stops after every frame and the score is always visible. In a best-of-eleven match there is little time for a price to recover: a favourite who trails 1–4 has to win five of the remaining six frames. The final is different. At best of nineteen it is split across afternoon and evening sessions, and a deficit after the first session is easier to recover than the live market sometimes suggests. Bet on the next frame only when your stream is up to date, because frames that finish before your bet is accepted will not stand.
Where to bet on the UK Championship
The depth of markets on a single snooker match differs a good deal between sportsbooks. If you want to compare uk snooker championship odds across several books, our UK betting sites guide is the place to start, and the snooker betting hub covers the markets through the rest of the season. If you would rather not upload documents to open an account, start with the no verification betting sites we have reviewed.
Where to watch
The York Barbican lists the BBC, TNT Sports and the tour's own WST Play service among the broadcasters, and the event goes out through national rights holders in other countries. A number of betting sites also show snooker inside signed-in accounts, and some of the sites we list are among them. Which matches each one carries is not the same from site to site, so check before you rely on a stream for live bets.
