Sports Betting in Canada: Hockey Nights, the Grey Cup and Parlays
Sports betting in Canada runs on hockey from October to June, with the NBA, baseball and the CFL around it. Here is how each league is priced, how American odds and parlays work, and which sportsbooks Canadians can open with an email.
Sports betting in Canada follows the calendar of a hockey country. The NHL season runs from October to June, seven Canadian clubs play in it, and a Saturday night in winter is built around the puck drop. Around hockey sit the NBA, Major League Baseball and the Canadian Football League, whose season ends with the Grey Cup in November. This guide to sports betting Canada-style looks at how each league is priced and at the sportsbooks Canadians can open with an email address.

Hockey: moneyline, puck line and the three-way market
Hockey offers three ways to back the same team, and they settle differently.
| Market | What you back | Overtime and shootout |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | The team to win | Included |
| Puck line | The team at -1.5 or +1.5 goals | Included |
| Regulation result (three-way) | Home, draw or away after 60 minutes | Not included |
The moneyline on a strong home team is often too short to back alone, which is why the puck line exists: a favourite at -1.5 must win by two, and an empty-net goal in the last minute decides a surprising number of those bets. The goalie matters more than any other player; a confirmed starter can move a line before puck drop. Our ice hockey betting guide explains each market, and the NHL predictions follow the 2026–27 season week by week.
The NBA, baseball and the CFL
- Basketball. The NBA opened its 2026–27 season on 20 October. Point spreads and totals carry most of the money, and injury reports move lines faster than in any other sport. Our NBA predictions cover the opening weeks and the futures.
- Baseball. Pitching decides the price; a starter scratched an hour before first pitch can void or reprice a bet depending on the site's rules. See the baseball betting guide and our MLB postseason predictions.
- The CFL. Canadian football has three downs, a wider field and the single point, the rouge, which turns some totals on one kick. The 113th Grey Cup is on Sunday 15 November 2026 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. Many sportsbooks price the CFL with fewer markets than the NFL, so check the depth before you deposit for it.
American odds and parlays
Most Canadian bettors read prices in American odds. A minus number is what you stake to win 100; a plus number is what a 100 stake wins. Converting to decimal makes the margin visible: -110 on both sides of a spread is 1.91 and 1.91, which adds up to 104.8%, a margin of about 4.8%. Our odds calculator converts any price.
Parlays are where the margin grows fastest. Each leg carries its own, and multiplying four legs at -110 gives a parlay priced well below its fair value. The parlay calculator shows the return on any slip, and the round robin calculator shows what it costs to cover one loser.

Each row of the table names the coins that site's cashier accepts. Paying in crypto speeds up a payout; it does not remove the identity clause. Somewhere in its terms, every one of these sportsbooks names a withdrawal size above which it may want a passport or a utility bill, and a five-leg hockey parlay at +1200 is precisely the kind of win that reaches it. The fast withdrawal betting sites page compares payout speeds, and the crypto betting sites page explains networks and fees.
Sports betting Canada: how we chose these sportsbooks
Nothing on this page is ordered by advertising. We read each operator's terms for its ID trigger, its payout ceiling and speed, and its licence, then score them the same way for every country. For sports betting in Canada we also looked for full NHL coverage, with puck lines, period markets and player props, because a site with thin hockey markets is the wrong site here however clean its terms are. Sports betting Canada fans do on hockey is a long season, and a budget set in October has to last to June.
Every operator we cover is compared on the main no verification betting sites ranking. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools are explained on our responsible gambling page.
