2026 MLB Postseason: Division Series Predictions and World Series Odds
The Wild Card round is over and all four Division Series are under way. Here is where the 2026 bracket stands on 5 October, why October baseball is priced differently from the regular season, and our view on every live series and the World Series.
October changes baseball betting more than any other month. The regular season is a 162-game grind where depth wins; the postseason is a sprint of best-of-three, best-of-five and best-of-seven series where the top two or three starters carry almost everything. MLB odds in October reflect that shift, and the prices on the four Division Series running this week are built very differently from the ones you saw in August.

Where the 2026 postseason stands (as of 5 October 2026)
Twelve clubs qualified: six from each league. The top two seeds in each league earned a bye straight into the Division Series. In the American League those were the No. 1 Tampa Bay Rays and the No. 2 Cleveland Guardians; in the National League, the No. 1 Milwaukee Brewers and the No. 2 Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Wild Card Series were played from 29 September to 1 October. Three of the four ended in two games.
| Wild Card Series | Games | Result |
|---|---|---|
| White Sox (6) at Astros (3) | 6–3, 7–3 | White Sox win 2–0 |
| Red Sox (5) at Yankees (4) | 9–0, 9–2 (Yankees) | Yankees win 2–0 |
| Cubs (5) at Padres (4) | 8–0, 4–1 (Padres) | Padres win 2–0 |
| Phillies (6) at Braves (3) | 5–3, 3–4, 6–2 (Braves) | Braves win 2–1 |
The Division Series opened on Saturday 3 October. After the first weekend:
- Rays v Yankees: Tampa Bay lead 1–0 after a 1–0 win in Game 1.
- Guardians v White Sox: Chicago lead 1–0 after winning Game 1 3–0 in Cleveland.
- Brewers v Padres: Milwaukee lead 2–0 after two one-run wins, 3–2 and 4–3.
- Dodgers v Braves: level at 1–1. Los Angeles won Game 1 5–3; Atlanta took Game 2 3–2.
MLB odds for every remaining game are set around this schedule. Both American League series resume with Game 2 today, 5 October, followed by Game 3 on 7 October, Game 4 if needed on 8 October and Game 5 if needed on 10 October. In the National League, Games 3 are on 6 October, Games 4 on 7 October, and any Game 5 on 9 October. The NLCS starts on 11 October, the ALCS on 12 October, and the World Series begins on 23 October at the home of the finalist with the better regular-season record, with a possible Game 7 on 31 October.
How postseason MLB odds are priced differently
A regular-season moneyline is mostly a question about one starting pitcher against another, with the rest of the roster as background. In October the background disappears. Clubs drop their fifth starter and often their fourth, and the gaps between games are used to bring the ace back sooner. A team that won the division with five decent starters can find its edge shrinking when it only needs three; a team with two elite arms and little behind them suddenly looks stronger than its record.
That is why MLB playoff odds, both series prices and single-game lines, can disagree with the season standings. The bookmaker is pricing the rotation that will actually pitch in the next five or seven days, not the one that pitched since March.
Bullpens matter more too. Managers pull starters earlier, use their best relievers in the sixth and seventh innings instead of saving them for the ninth, and lean on the same few arms across back-to-back days. Two things follow for the bettor:
- First five innings markets separate the starter from a tired or overused bullpen, which is often the most useful split in October.
- Totals tend to come down when aces start and only the top relievers pitch, so an under at a low line is not automatically value.
Short series also make results noisy, and MLB odds on a series have to absorb that. A best-of-five can turn on one swing, and the better team loses often enough that a series favourite rarely deserves the price of a heavy single-game favourite. The two NL Division Series results on 4 October, both decided by one run, are a reminder of how thin the margins are.
Division Series predictions and expected prices
These are our MLB predictions, not tips from any bookmaker. Where the MLB odds you see differ from our estimate by a wide margin, that gap is worth a second look. The price column is our estimate of a fair series price as of 5 October, in decimal with the American equivalent, and is not a quote.
| Series | Dates | Our view | Expected price (estimate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brewers v Padres (MIL leads 2–0) | 6, 7*, 9* Oct | Brewers to advance | Brewers 1.15 (-670) |
| Dodgers v Braves (1–1) | 6, 7, 9* Oct | Dodgers to advance, narrowly | Dodgers 1.70 (-145) |
| Rays v Yankees (TB leads 1–0) | 5, 7, 8*, 10* Oct | Rays to advance | Rays 1.55 (-180) |
| Guardians v White Sox (CWS leads 1–0) | 5, 7, 8*, 10* Oct | White Sox to advance | White Sox 1.65 (-155) |
*If necessary.
Brewers v Padres. Milwaukee need one win from three, and two of those games are in San Diego. The Padres took four of six meetings in the regular season, so the matchup is closer than the seeding suggests, but a 2–0 deficit in a best-of-five is a hard place to climb out of. MLB.com calls Jacob Misiorowski the NL Cy Young Award frontrunner, and the Brewers can line him up again before a deciding game. Our pick: Brewers.
Dodgers v Braves. The most even series of the four. Atlanta went 5–1 against Los Angeles in the regular season and now host Games 3 and 4. Against that, the Dodgers have the deepest rotation left in the field: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tarik Skubal, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, according to MLB.com. The Braves lean heavily on Chris Sale and Tyler Mahle, with injury questions over Martín Pérez and Bryce Elder behind them. Shohei Ohtani's biceps and knee issues are the open question on the Dodgers side. Our view: Dodgers, but only just.
Rays v Yankees. Tampa Bay won seven of 13 meetings this season and took Game 1 in the lowest-scoring way possible. For the Yankees, the biggest variable is Aaron Judge, who was sidelined with a right calf injury going into the series, per MLB.com on 2 October. With Judge back, our estimate would move several points towards New York. Our view: Rays.
Guardians v White Sox. The White Sox swept Houston in the Wild Card round and then won Game 1 in Cleveland. The season series was 7–6 to Chicago, with six games decided by one run, so neither side has a structural edge. José Ramírez has not looked like himself since hamate surgery in June, according to MLB.com, and Cleveland need him to hit. Our view: White Sox, at a price that respects how close this matchup has been all year.

This is opinion. World Series odds change after every game, and the numbers below are our estimates of fair odds on 5 October, not market quotes.
| Team | Our estimate | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Brewers | 3.75 (+275) | Top NL seed, 2–0 up, home field throughout the NL bracket |
| Dodgers | 4.50 (+350) | Deepest rotation still in the field, but tied 1–1 |
| Rays | 5.50 (+450) | Top AL seed, 1–0 up |
| Braves | 8.00 (+700) | Level with the Dodgers, thin behind Sale and Mahle |
| White Sox | 9.00 (+800) | Hot run from the No. 6 seed |
| Yankees | 10.00 (+900) | Rises sharply if Judge returns |
| Guardians | 15.00 (+1400) | 0–1 down, Ramírez still searching for form |
| Padres | 26.00 (+2500) | Need three straight wins to survive |
Our pick for the 2026 World Series is the Brewers. The reasoning is simple: they are closest to the LCS, they have the NL Cy Young Award frontrunner in their rotation, per MLB.com, and a bye week has kept their bullpen fresh. The National League side of the bracket looks stronger than the American League side, which is why we price the NL favourites ahead of the Rays. If you prefer a lower-risk angle on the same view, the pennant market carries one fewer round of uncertainty than the World Series outright.
When comparing MLB odds across sportsbooks for futures, the margin on an eight-team outright is much higher than on a single game. Two or three sites side by side can show a difference of several points on the same team; the best-odds comparison explains how we check that.
Where to place the bet is a separate question, answered on our page about no KYC betting sites.

Where to watch the 2026 MLB postseason
In the United States, MLB.com lists TBS, truTV and HBO Max for the American League Division Series, FS1 and FOX for the National League Division Series, and FOX for the World Series, with Spanish-language coverage alongside. Outside the US, the postseason is carried by national broadcasters and by the league's own streaming service in many markets; check what applies where you live.
Some sportsbooks also stream a share of games to signed-in account holders. The sites we list were picked partly because they offer streaming, but which postseason games each one shows is not the same everywhere, so check the schedule inside your account before relying on it.
