Super Bowl LXI: who the market rates four weeks in, and how to bet the game
Super Bowl LXI is on 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium, and four weeks into the season the futures market has already been reshuffled. Here is how the 2026 contenders stand, why the prices move the way they do, our view on who is worth backing and how the game itself is bet in February.
Super Bowl LXI will be played on Sunday 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Four weeks into the 2026 season, the futures market has already thrown out two of its preseason contenders and promoted teams few people priced in August. This page follows the Super Bowl odds from now until kick-off: who the market rates, what moves the prices, and how the game itself is bet once two teams are left.

Super Bowl LXI: date, venue and the road to Inglewood
The game falls on the latest date the NFL has ever held a Super Bowl, and it is the first one played on Valentine's Day. It is the second Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium, after LVI in February 2022. That detail matters more than usual for betting: SoFi is the home ground of the Rams and the Chargers, and the Rams won LVI there, 23–20 against Cincinnati, in front of their own crowd. The game is still a neutral-site fixture on paper, but a Los Angeles team in it would have a crowd edge no spread fully prices.
Getting there takes a long winter. The regular season runs from 9 September 2026 to 10 January 2027. Fourteen teams reach the playoffs, seven from each conference: four division winners and three wild cards. Only the top seed in each conference skips the first round; the No. 2 seed has to play the No. 7. The calendar for the knockout rounds:
- Wild Card round: 16–18 January 2027
- Divisional round: 23–24 January
- Conference championships: 31 January
- Super Bowl LXI: 14 February, SoFi Stadium
The Seattle Seahawks are the defending champions, having beaten New England in Super Bowl LX.
The 2026 season after four weeks
With the Monday game between Atlanta and New Orleans still to play on 5 October, three teams are unbeaten: the Kansas City Chiefs, the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers, all 4–0. Records of the leading sides, from the league standings as published on 5 October:
| Team | Record | Week 4 result |
|---|---|---|
| Kansas City Chiefs | 4–0 | Beat Las Vegas 30–27 |
| Minnesota Vikings | 4–0 | Beat Miami 15–10 |
| San Francisco 49ers | 4–0 | Beat Denver 24–14 |
| Buffalo Bills | 3–1 | Lost 26–29 to New England |
| Baltimore Ravens | 3–1 | Beat Tennessee 24–18 |
| Jacksonville Jaguars | 3–1 | Beat Cincinnati 22–17 |
| Seattle Seahawks | 3–1 | Beat the Chargers 30–23 |
| New York Giants | 3–1 | Beat Arizona 36–24 |
| Chicago Bears | 3–1 | Beat the Jets 23–12 |
| Los Angeles Rams | 2–2 | Beat Philadelphia 24–20 |
At the other end, the Dolphins, Texans, Titans, Chargers and Buccaneers have yet to win a game.
How Super Bowl futures move
The Super Bowl odds do not follow the table. In the prices reported by ESPN on 5 October, the 2–2 Rams were outright favourites, having shortened slightly after winning in Philadelphia. The Bills were second, drifting after their home defeat to New England. The 49ers and Ravens were joint third, ahead of the Chiefs and Seahawks. The unbeaten Vikings were not even in the ten shortest prices. Futures price the whole season ahead, roster quality and schedule included, and four games are a small sample.
Results still move the Super Bowl odds hard at the margins. The same report had Jacksonville and Chicago shortening from 22–1 and 24–1, Houston drifting from 18–1 before the season to 45–1 after an 0–4 start, and the Chargers going from 17–1 to 100–1. A team that starts 0–4 has used up most of its room for error in a seventeen-game season, and the price says so.
Three things will drive the Super Bowl odds between now and January:
- Injuries. A starting quarterback's injury moves a team's futures more than any single result. Long-term injuries to pass rushers and offensive linemen move them too, just more slowly, because the market takes a few weeks to see the effect in performance.
- The trade deadline. It falls on 10 November at 4 p.m. New York time. Contenders add players, sellers give up on the season, and prices adjust within hours of a significant deal.
- Playoff seeding. From December the market prices the bracket, not the team. A path through two home games and a bye is worth far more than the same team on the road in the wild-card round, which is why the race for the No. 1 seed moves futures late in the season.
Our Super Bowl predictions
What follows is opinion. The prices are our own estimates of fair odds, not quotes from any sportsbook, and they will be out of date by the next round.
Our view: the 49ers are the best of the unbeaten sides. A 4–0 start in a division that includes the defending champions, and a market that still rates them behind a 2–2 team. Our estimate of a fair price: around 8–1. If you can get noticeably longer, it is worth a look.
Our view: the Rams are rated on reputation more than results so far. The win in Philadelphia was real, but 2–2 is 2–2, and being favourites in October leaves no value in the price. Expected price we would want: 10–1 or longer. The home-stadium angle for February is interesting, but they have to reach it first.
Our view: the Vikings are the outsider worth tracking. An unbeaten team outside the top ten in the market is unusual. A narrow win over a winless Miami side does not prove much, so we would wait for the next month of results rather than chase. Our estimate: about 18–1 if they are 6–0 at the end of October.
Our view: oppose the drifting Bills only briefly. One home loss to a division rival is not a crisis. If the price lengthens further after another defeat, it may become the better value of the two AFC favourites. Expected price we would want: 9–1.
Our predictions for the conference markets follow the same logic as our Super Bowl odds estimates. A conference winner bet asks for three playoff wins instead of four, so the margin on it is lower, and for a team you like early it often beats the outright.

Once two teams are left, the Super Bowl odds switch from futures to a single fixture. From then on it is the most heavily bet single game of the year, and the market widens with it.
- Spread and total. The main lines open as soon as the conference championships end, about two weeks before kick-off. With that much time and money, they are among the sharpest prices of the season. The key numbers still apply: a spread on 3 or 7 behaves differently from one on 2.5 or 6.5.
- Moneyline. Most useful when the spread is small, which it often is in a final between the two best teams.
- MVP. The award usually follows the ball, so the two starting quarterbacks sit at the top of the market. Value, when it exists, tends to be in the receivers and defenders priced well behind them.
- Player props. Yards, receptions, touchdown scorers. Two weeks of analysis means few soft lines on the main players, but the less prominent names are priced with less attention.
- Novelty markets. The coin toss, the length of the anthem and the like. A coin toss is a pure 50–50, so both sides are priced below evens and the margin is all the sportsbook's. Bet it for fun, not for value.
Overtime counts for the main game markets. Quarter and half markets settle on their own periods, so check the rules on anything that is not a full-game bet.

Where to watch
In the United States, Super Bowl LXI is on ABC and ESPN. Elsewhere, national broadcasters in each country and the NFL's own streaming service carry the game, as they do the playoffs before it. A few betting sites also show certain games inside a logged-in account; we have listed sites that do this, though which games are shown varies by site and by country.
