Reload Offers for Existing Players, Costed Before You Claim
A reload is the match a site offers on your second, tenth or fiftieth deposit. The percentage is smaller than a welcome offer, the wagering is often lighter, and whether it is worth taking comes down to one sum you can do in a minute.
A reload bonus is the offer a site makes once the welcome package is spent. You have an account, you have deposited before, and the site wants the next deposit to come to it rather than to a competitor. The match is smaller, the cap is lower, and the terms are often shorter. None of that tells you whether it is worth claiming. The cost of the wagering does.

How reloads are offered
Reloads come in a few recognisable shapes, and the shape tells you how much choice you have.
- Weekly or day-of-week reloads. A match on a deposit made on a named day, such as a midweek or weekend top-up. It repeats, so the site expects you to treat it as routine.
- Promo-code reloads. The match is credited only if a code is entered with the deposit. Miss the code and the deposit goes in plain; few sites add the bonus afterwards.
- Automatic reloads. The match is added to any qualifying deposit, sometimes with an opt-out box. If you do not want it, untick it before paying in, because removing it later can cost the winnings too.
- VIP and tier reloads. The percentage, the cap or the wagering improves as your tier rises. At the higher tiers the offer may be personal, set by an account manager rather than printed on the promotions page.
Many sportsbooks run sports and casino reloads separately. A sports reload usually carries a minimum price per selection, and a casino reload usually lists which games count. A bet placed under the wrong one does not reduce the requirement, so check which wallet the match lands in.
Why the match is smaller and the wagering often lower
A welcome offer is a cost of winning a new customer. The site does not know you, it expects some new accounts to take the offer and leave, and it protects itself with a high wagering multiple, often applied to the deposit and the bonus together. The welcome bonus page sets those terms out in full.
A reload is a cost of keeping a customer the site already knows. It has your history, so it can afford to give less and ask less. A 25% or 50% match on a modest cap is cheap for the operator, and a lighter rollover makes it easier to use, which keeps you depositing. That is the trade: smaller headline, lighter strings. It is a pattern, not a rule. Some reloads carry the same heavy multiple as the welcome offer and simply pay less, and those are the ones to decline.
What the terms of a reload bonus decide
Four lines in the terms decide almost everything.
- What the multiple applies to. 10x the bonus and 10x the deposit plus bonus are very different. On a 200 deposit with a 50% match, the first means 1,000 in bets; the second means 3,000.
- Minimum odds and contribution. Sports reloads often count only bets at or above a set price. Casino reloads often count slots in full and table or live games partly or not at all.
- Maximum stake and expiry. Most offers cap the stake while the bonus is active and give a short window, often counted in days. A missed deadline removes the bonus and what it won.
- Whether your deposit is held. Some terms keep the deposit tied to the bonus until the requirement is met. Others let you withdraw the deposit at any time and forfeit only the bonus.
The wagering requirements guide covers each of these in more depth.
How to work out what a reload is worth
The value of a bonus is the bonus minus the expected cost of the betting it forces you to do. That cost is the turnover multiplied by the margin or house edge of what you bet on.
Value = bonus − (required turnover × margin or edge)
The worked example below compares three reloads with a plain deposit. The deposit is 200 in every case. The margin and edge figures are assumptions for the arithmetic, not any site's numbers: an expected loss of 5% of stake on sports bets, and 4% on slots.
| Case | Bonus | Wagering | Turnover | Assumed margin | Expected cost | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plain deposit, no bonus | 0 | none | your choice | — | — | 0 |
| Sports reload, 50% up to 100 | 100 | 10x bonus | 1,000 | 5% | 50 | +50 |
| Sports reload, 25% up to 100 | 50 | 5x bonus | 250 | 5% | 12.50 | +37.50 |
| Casino reload, 25% up to 100 | 50 | 35x deposit + bonus | 8,750 | 4% | 350 | −300 |
The first reload is the best of the four. You bet 1,000, lose 50 on average to the margin, and keep a 100 bonus, so you finish 50 ahead of where the plain deposit would leave you, provided you would have bet that much anyway. The second reload is smaller but easy to clear: 250 of turnover costs 12.50 on average. The third is the trap. The turnover is 35 × (200 + 50) = 8,750, and at a 4% edge that costs 350, which is more than the whole 250 balance. On average the balance runs out before the requirement is met.
Two break-even rules follow from the same sum. When the multiple applies to the bonus alone, the bonus pays for itself up to a multiple of 1 ÷ margin: 20x at 5%, 25x at 4%. When it applies to deposit plus bonus, the ceiling falls sharply. With a 200 deposit and a 50 bonus at a 4% edge, anything above 5x costs more than the bonus, since 5 × 250 × 4% = 50.
The margin side of the sum is something you control. Betting at lower margins lowers the cost of every bet that counts, which is why the best odds betting sites page matters for bonus players too. To turn a price into the probability it implies, and see the margin inside a market, use the odds calculator.

Signing up without documents does not mean the site can never ask for them. A reload adds a moment when it can. Bonus terms commonly let an operator review an account before paying out bonus winnings, particularly after a large win, a fast run through the wagering, or several accounts linked to one address or payment method. Because a reload goes to an established account, it often arrives at the point where your deposits and withdrawals have grown, and growing totals are themselves a common trigger for a review.
None of this makes a reload bonus a reason to expect a request, but it is a reason to read the bonus terms before taking one. The points where each site can ask for ID are listed on the no KYC casinos page. If keeping withdrawals quick matters more than a 25% match, decline the match and keep the deposit plain.
Reloads, rakeback and the other repeat offers
A reload is not the only thing a site offers to players who stay. Rakeback returns a share of the edge on every bet, usually with little or no wagering, so it adds value without changing how you bet. An odds boost improves the price on one selection, and acca insurance returns the stake when one leg of a qualifying accumulator fails. If you deposit in coins, the crypto casino bonus page explains how a match quoted in a coin behaves when the price moves.
For a regular bettor, the question is which of these costs least per unit of value. A low-wagering reload and steady rakeback can sit together; a heavy-wagering reload usually blocks everything else until it is cleared, because many terms allow one active bonus at a time.
When to decline a reload
Say no when any of these apply:
- The multiple is on deposit plus bonus and the sum above shows a negative value.
- The minimum price forces you onto bets you would not otherwise place.
- The expiry is shorter than the time you would normally take to bet that amount.
- You plan to withdraw soon, and the terms hold your deposit until the wagering is done.
- The offer is pushing you to deposit more, or more often, than you meant to. The responsible gambling page lists the tools that help.
A plain deposit is always the fallback. It has no turnover, no stake cap and no expiry, and every winning bet can be withdrawn. A reload bonus earns its place only when it beats that. All bonus types are compared on the bonuses hub.
