Bovada: Which Documents It Wants Before You Cash Out
Bovada asks for name, address, date of birth and phone at sign-up and runs them past outside identity services. Card users face a separate form before any withdrawal. This page sets out both steps from Bovada's own terms and help centre.
Bovada is one of the best-known offshore books for North American sports, and the search for the Bovada sportsbook mostly comes from bettors weighing up where to put an NFL or NBA slip. For this site the question is what Bovada needs from you before money comes back out. Its terms and help centre answer that in some detail, and the answer has two parts: an identity check that starts at sign-up, and a separate form for anyone who has used a credit card.

What the Bovada name stands on
Bovada's site states that it is licensed and regulated by the Union of the Comoros and the Central Reserve Authority of Western Sahara. The Terms of Service we read are dated January 3rd, 2024.
There are gaps here. The pages we could read do not name the company that operates Bovada or print a licence number, and we found no public register entry to check one against. The terms we could read do not give a founding year either. We say so rather than fill the space.
What the Bovada sportsbook offers
Bovada's help centre and its own sports hub describe the betting on offer rather than list every sport, and the emphasis falls on North American leagues, so the NFL and NBA pages on this site are the closest companions to this one.
Live betting runs during the game, with odds updated after almost every play, according to Bovada. Same Game Parlays let you add up to 10 selections from one game. Bovada prices them on how the selections relate to each other, so the odds differ from a parlay of separate games, and some markets cannot be paired at all. Our bet builder guide explains why that correlation changes the price. Standard parlays and round robins are covered in Bovada's own betting guides.
Cash out is offered on singles and parlays, pre-game and live, but not on every event or bet type. The amount follows the current odds and changes with the moment you choose. You can cash out a parlay after one or more legs have already won. Only the full bet can be closed; there is no partial cash out. The cash out explainer shows how to judge the figure you are offered.
The pages we read do not describe live streaming, so this page makes no claim about it.
Paying in and getting paid at Bovada
The cashier takes coins, cards, vouchers and transfers. Bovada lists Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Litecoin, Ethereum, USD Tether and Bitcoin Lightning; Visa and Mastercard; vouchers; Player Transfer; MatchPay; and direct bank transfer. Some minimums Bovada prints:
- cards: $20;
- Bitcoin: 0.0001 BTC;
- vouchers: $10, with a maximum of $3,000;
- Player Transfer and MatchPay: $10;
- direct bank transfer: $50.
Withdrawals come off your balance as soon as you request them. Bovada then reviews each request, which it says takes approximately 24–48 hours. Once approved, Bitcoin arrives within up to 24 hours, and Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Ethereum, USD Tether and Litecoin within up to 1 hour. Check by courier and vouchers are also listed as withdrawal methods. For sites ranked on payout speed, see our fast withdrawal list.
When the Bovada sportsbook asks for documents
This is the question that decides whether Bovada is a match for readers of this site, and Bovada's documents give it a layered answer.
At sign-up. Registration asks for full name, address, date of birth, email address and telephone number. By supplying them you agree that Bovada may pass them to outside providers of age and identity services, which may check them against government-issued ID. If your details cannot be validated this way, Bovada may ask for further information or documents.
Section 3.6 of the Terms of Service, headed “Information to be Valid and Verifiable”, sets the stakes. Everything you give must be truthful, accurate and verifiable. If it is false, or if you cannot or will not provide documents to confirm it, the account may be terminated and all activity in it treated as invalid, including the cancellation of potential winnings.
Why the ID is wanted. The help centre gives three reasons: to confirm the account holder is 18 or older, that they own the credit card used to deposit, and that they are the person withdrawal payments go to. Bovada says a scan or photo of a valid government-issued ID is reviewed in approximately 24–48 hours, sometimes less.
Before any payout. Under the Terms of Service you may be asked for documents before a payment is processed. Card users have a fixed step on top: before Bovada processes any withdrawal, Bitcoin included, it needs a Credit Card Verification Form for every credit card used to fund the account, sent with photos of the cards and a government-issued photo ID.
How the upload works. In the automated process you open the profile icon, choose “Verify now” beside “Identity verification required”, agree to the terms, then pick the issuing country and the type of ID: passport, driver's licence or identity card. You can photograph the ID or upload a file, and Bovada asks for a clear picture of the front and another of the back.
| Point in the account | What Bovada may ask for | Where it says so |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | Name, address, date of birth, email, phone, run past outside ID services | KYC policies page |
| Details fail to validate | Additional information or documents | KYC policies page; section 3.6 |
| Card deposit, then any withdrawal | Credit Card Verification Form per card, card photos, photo ID | Withdrawal help pages |
| Before a payment is processed | Documents as requested | Terms of Service, cited in help pages |
So an account that never touches a card may get through on the automated check alone, but the terms keep the right to ask for documents before any payment.
SportsbookSportsbook and casino in one accountOpen sportsbook18+ · read the terms before your first depositWho Bovada fits, and who it does not
On these facts the Bovada sportsbook suits a bettor focused on North American leagues who wants live odds, Same Game Parlays and full cash out, deposits with coins, and does not mind an automated identity check at registration.
It suits less well a bettor who has used, or plans to use, a credit card and wants a quick first withdrawal, because the card form comes before any payout. It does not suit anyone who wants partial cash out, or who needs a published licence number and operating company before signing up, since the pages we read did not give either. Whatever you decide, our responsible gambling page lists the controls worth turning on.
When an ID check before payout rules Bovada out
Bovada's check starts at sign-up and tightens around withdrawals. If you want a sportsbook whose own terms ask for less, our comparison of betting sites without ID checks covers sign-up and payout checks site by site, and the table below is taken from it.

Every fact about a named sportsbook comes from that operator's own terms, KYC or AML policy, or from a licence register, with the clause number where there is one and the date it was read.
