Stake Sportsbook: What Each Verification Level Asks For
Stake takes coins, but its terms keep the right to ask for identity papers at any point. This page sets out the four verification levels Stake describes, the clauses behind them and what the licence register shows about the company.
Stake is a sportsbook and casino run from Curaçao. It is usually filed under crypto betting because coins are its main way in and out, and that leads many bettors to assume it never asks for papers. Its own terms say otherwise. This page reads the Stake sportsbook through the documents Stake publishes, its terms, its help centre and its KYC guide, plus the Curaçao licence register, and sets out what it can ask you to send, at which point and under which clause.

Who runs Stake and which licence it holds
The terms name the contracting company as Medium Rare N.V., registration number 145353, with its head office at Seru Loraweg 17, B, Curaçao. They give the licence as OGL/2024/1451/0918, issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority. Part of the payment processing is handled by a subsidiary in Cyprus, Medium Rare Limited, registration number HE 410775.
The regulator's own list agrees on the number. In the Online Gaming License Registry PDF dated 2 October 2026, row 194 shows OGL/2024/1451/0918 held by Medium Rare N.V., type B2C, company number 145353, issued 9 December 2025 with an expiry of 9 June 2026, and the status column reads “Assessment in progress”. We report both columns as printed: the expiry date has passed and the regulator still lists the licence as under assessment rather than lapsed.
The pages we could read do not give a founding year for the brand, so we do not state one.
What the Stake sportsbook covers
The sports section lists traditional sports and esports side by side, with separate pages for American football and the NFL, baseball and many others. Betting runs before the event and in play.
Cashout, as Stake describes it in its sportsbook policy, lets you take a return on a bet before it reaches its conclusion. It is offered on selected events and markets, both pre-match and live, on singles and multis. It is not offered on Same Game Multi bets, and Stake's help centre has a separate article on the other cases where the button does not appear. Our cash out guide explains how that figure is worked out.
The Same Game Multi is built from the Bet Builder tab: several selections from one match on one slip. Stake prices those combinations together, and as noted they cannot be cashed out. For how correlated legs are priced, see the bet builder explainer.
Stake's pages that we could read do not say which events it streams inside the account, so we make no claim about live pictures.
Deposits and withdrawals at Stake
Coins are the main route. The help centre says each coin has its own minimum withdrawal, shown at the bottom of the withdrawal screen, and that every withdrawal carries a fee taken from your balance. It gives no fixed delivery time. A withdrawal marked pending is with the payment provider; if it has not gone through within 3 business days, Stake asks you to contact support. Larger amounts may need manual processing by its staff, which Stake says can cause a temporary hold.
Stake also runs local-currency bank routes. Its help article on Canadian dollar bank transfer withdrawals states that KYC Level 2 must be complete before that withdrawal can be made, and the Indian rupee guide ties netbanking to the same level. Where a page gives a minimum or a fee in figures, it is the cashier screen rather than the terms that carries it.
If payout speed is the deciding factor, our fast withdrawal shortlist compares that across sites, and the crypto betting sites page lists which coins each one takes.
Stake verification, level by level
This is the part that matters for a reader of this site. Stake describes four steps. The first is a form; the other three are documents.
| Level | What Stake asks for | What Stake says about it |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Your name, residential address and date of birth, typed into the account | Personal details only, no upload |
| Level 2 | Proof of identity: international passport, national ID card (both sides) or driving licence (both sides) | High-resolution colour scan, flat, all four corners visible |
| Level 3 | Proof of address: utility bill, bank statement, tenancy agreement or government tax letter | Original photo or PDF scan, less than six months old |
| Level 4 | Proof of source of funds: salary slip, bank statements showing regular payments over 3–6 months, tax return, sale of shares or investments, inheritance, company sale, lottery winnings, crypto mining ledger | Documents must show your full name and the issuer's details |
When does Stake ask? The terms answer that in three places.
- Clause 4.8. Stake may, at any time, ask for any KYC documentation it considers necessary to establish the identity and location of a player, and may restrict the service, payments or withdrawals until identity is sufficiently determined.
- Clause 4.7. The player warrants that everything on the application is true, current and correct. The terms also let Stake ask any player for proof of age and suspend the account until it is supplied. The minimum age is 18, or the age of majority where the player lives if that is higher.
- Clause 8.1. A withdrawal can be refused until the player's identity has been verified and Stake has confirmed the request comes from the account holder, the money is going to an account the player holds, any extra information requested has been provided, and the minimum wager attached to each deposit has been met. The same clause allows additional KYC checks on any withdrawal.
The anti-money laundering statement adds that proof of wealth may be requested from accounts it treats as high risk, and the help centre says the compliance team can request any document at any given time.
What can you do before Level 2? The pages we could read do not give one list of what each level opens. They tie Level 2 to the Canadian dollar and rupee bank routes. For coin accounts, clause 4.8 means no level is a promise that documents will not be requested later; the trigger is Stake's judgement, a withdrawal, or the size of the activity.

On the documents above, the Stake sportsbook fits a bettor who uses coins, is prepared to send a passport and a utility bill if asked, and wants cashout on singles and multis across a long list of sports and esports.
It fits less well if you need a site that will never ask for papers. Clauses 4.8 and 8.1 say the opposite in plain terms, and Level 4 can reach into payslips and bank statements. It also does not suit anyone who builds most bets in the Bet Builder tab and expects to close them early, since Same Game Multis have no cashout. Bettors who weigh licence status should read the register entry above for themselves. Whatever you choose, our responsible gambling page sets out the tools worth switching on.
If sending documents first is not an option
Stake's terms make an identity check possible at any time, and the withdrawal clause makes it likely when money leaves. If that is the part you want to avoid, our list of betting sites without ID checks compares sportsbooks on what their own terms say about KYC at sign-up and at withdrawal.

Every fact about a named sportsbook comes from that operator's own terms, KYC or AML policy, or from a licence register, with the clause number where there is one and the date it was read.
