Tyson Fury v Anthony Joshua: Betting Preview for Cardiff, 11 December
Ten years after it was first talked about, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on 11 December for the vacant WBA (Super) heavyweight title. This preview reads the fight the way a bettor should: winner, method, rounds and whether it goes the distance.
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua finally share a ring on Friday 11 December 2026 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with the vacant WBA (Super) heavyweight title on offer. Turki Alalshikh announced it on 24 September, the two men faced off at a London press conference six days later, and Netflix carries it. That gives the market ten weeks to settle, and Fury vs Joshua odds will move more on fight-week news than on anything said at a press conference. This page sets out what the record supports before then.

The fight in brief
| Date | Friday 11 December 2026 |
| Venue | Principality Stadium, Cardiff, retractable roof, around 80,000 seats |
| Title | WBA (Super) heavyweight, vacant |
| Promoters of record | Queensberry Promotions, Matchroom Boxing, Sela |
| Broadcast | Netflix |
| Rematch clause | None |
The belt is vacant because Oleksandr Usyk gave up his WBA, WBC and IBF titles in June. Murat Gassiev, who held the WBA's secondary title, was elevated, but the WBA then ruled that its top title would be settled in Cardiff. Joshua said at the launch that he does not care about the belt. Bettors should care about one detail: a title fight is scheduled for twelve rounds, so every distance and round market is built on twelve.
The road here was not smooth. On 26 September Fury posted a video claiming Joshua and Eddie Hearn were trying to pull out over a dispute between promoters. The London press conference went ahead anyway, and the British Boxing Board of Control has since named the three promoters of record above.
Tale of the tape
| Tyson Fury | Anthony Joshua | |
|---|---|---|
| Born | 12 August 1988 | 15 October 1989 |
| Age on fight night | 38 | 37 |
| Height | 6 ft 9 in | 6 ft 6 in |
| Reach | 85 in | 82 in |
| Stance | Orthodox, switches | Orthodox |
| Record | 36–2–1, 25 KOs | 30–4, 27 KOs |
| Last fight | Mariusz Wach, July 2026, won RTD 7 | Kristian Prenga, July 2026, won KO 2 |
The size gap is three inches in height and three in reach, which on paper favours Fury at range. In the WBA's own rankings Fury sits second and Joshua third. Full careers are on the profiles of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Form and time out of the ring
Both men took long breaks before this year. Fury lost twice to Usyk in Riyadh in 2024, by split decision in May and then 116–112 on all three cards in December. He did not box again until 11 April 2026, roughly sixteen months later, when he beat Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 120–108, 120–108 and 119–109, landing 140 more punches than his opponent. In July in Pattaya he stopped 46-year-old Mariusz Wach when Wach's corner retired him after seven rounds, his first stoppage since Derek Chisora in December 2022.
Joshua's gap was similar. Daniel Dubois knocked him out in the fifth round in September 2024, and he next fought Jake Paul in Miami on 19 December 2025, about fifteen months on. He weighed 243 lb, dropped Paul four times and finished him in the sixth. In Jeddah in July, Prenga put him down with an uppercut about twenty seconds in and again before the end of the first round. Joshua got up and knocked Prenga out at 2:43 of the second.
So neither fighter arrives rusty in the strict sense: each has two wins in the past ten months. In our view neither of this year's opponents tested them the way the other will, which is why we expect Fury vs Joshua odds to open close.
Styles: what decides the method
Fury's last four fights went the distance three times, and the fourth was a corner retirement. He wins rounds with the jab, constant stance switches and movement, and he is happy to take a fight to the cards. Joshua's recent fights point the other way. Of six recent Joshua fights, against Franklin, both Usyk fights, Dubois, Paul and Prenga, three ended inside the distance, and the three that reached the cards were the Franklin win and the two Usyk defeats.
The pattern that matters most is how Joshua's fights end when they end early. Ruiz in 2019 and Dubois in 2024 stopped him, and Prenga dropped him twice. He also stopped Paul and Prenga. Our reading is that a Joshua fight is decided by who lands the big right hand first, and a Fury fight by whether anyone can catch him at all.
The camps add a twist. Joshua has brought back Ben Davison, who has trained both men, and he has predicted a first-round knockout. Fury said he will come out to blast Joshua out. Prefight talk rarely changes how a fighter boxes, so we price the styles, not the quotes.
Fury vs Joshua odds: our estimate
These are our own numbers, not prices from any operator. Fair price is 1 divided by the chance; quoted prices will be shorter because of the margin.
| Outcome | Our chance | Fair price (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Fury wins | 54% | 1.85 |
| Joshua wins | 43% | 2.33 |
| Draw | 3% | 33.0 |
| Fury on points | 34% | 2.94 |
| Fury inside the distance | 20% | 5.00 |
| Joshua inside the distance | 35% | 2.86 |
| Joshua on points | 8% | 12.5 |
| Fight goes the distance (incl. draw) | 45% | 2.22 |
| Fight ends early | 55% | 1.82 |
Our pick: Fury on the moneyline at around 1.85 or better. Our view on method: Fury on points is the likeliest single result, but Joshua by stoppage runs it close. Paste any quoted price into our odds calculator to see whether Fury vs Joshua odds on a site beat our fair line.

Round-group markets split twelve rounds into bands, usually 1–3, 4–6, 7–9 and 10–12, for each fighter. In our view Joshua's chances are weighted to the first half. He has the power early, and his most recent trip to the canvas came in the first round, so the opening rounds are volatile for both men. A Joshua 1–6 band suits a bettor who backs him without wanting to pick a single round.
If Fury stops Joshua, we expect it to come later, after he has worn him down. Wach lasted seven rounds and Makhmudov the full twelve. If you expect Fury to win inside the distance, a 7–12 band fits better than an early one.
The total-rounds line will probably sit around 9.5 or 10.5. Our 45% for the full twelve rounds says the under is a fair bet near evens, but not a strong one. If Fury vs Joshua odds offer the over at a big price, note how often Fury has taken fights to the cards.
How to read the prices
Start with the two-way moneyline and check the draw rule: some sites return the stake on a draw, others treat it as a loss. Then look at the method market, which shows how the bookmaker splits each man's chance between points and a finish. If a site prices Joshua inside the distance shorter than Joshua to win, the numbers do not add up and one of the lines is wrong.
Weigh-in day matters. Joshua was 243 lb for Paul. A heavier Fury suggests a plan to lean and wrestle, a lighter one suggests movement and a longer fight. Our boxing betting guide explains each market in full, and the predictions hub collects our other picks.
Where to watch
Netflix holds the global rights and streams the fight live. At the time of writing the ring-walk time and full undercard have not been confirmed, so check the schedule in your country in fight week. Apart from that, a number of betting sites show boxing within the logged-in account, usually smaller shows rather than a stadium event of this size. We chose sites that offer it, and what each one carries varies by card and by country.
