La Liga Betting: Where the Value Sits Behind the Big Clubs

Spain's top flight is priced from the top down: two or three clubs at short odds, seventeen others packed close together. Our La Liga predictions follow the money into handicaps on the giants, the race for the European places and the fight to stay up.

La Liga is a league priced from the top down. Barcelona and Real Madrid open most weekends as heavy favourites, Atlético Madrid sit one step behind them, and the other seventeen clubs are priced against each other in a far narrower band. That shape decides where our la liga predictions look for value. Rarely in who wins the big games; more often in the margin of those wins, in the race for Europe and in the scramble to stay up.

The 2026–27 season after seven rounds

The season opened on 15 August 2026. Seven rounds were played before the league paused for the long combined international window, which ran from 21 September to 6 October. The figures below come from the official table on laliga.com, checked on 5 October 2026. Athletic Club and Levante have played six matches, so each carries a game in hand.

Barcelona have won all seven, scoring 31 and conceding 7, and went into the break after a 3–1 win at Sevilla. Atlético beat Real Madrid 2–1 on 20 September, which lifted them to second and left Real fourth, a point behind both Atlético and Real Betis. Betis are the side the table flatters most: third on 16 points with a goal difference of only +2 from nine goals scored.

At the bottom, Málaga are still looking for a first win. They came up this summer with Racing Santander and Deportivo, and the three promoted clubs have gone three different ways: Deportivo are seventh on 10 points, Racing are 16th with a goal difference of -10 after a 5–0 defeat at Celta, and Málaga are last. Valencia sit 19th after losing 3–2 at home to Real Sociedad in the final round before the break.

How La Liga is priced

The gap at the top is the first thing to understand. When Barcelona or Real Madrid host a bottom-half club, the home win is usually priced so short that there is little to gain from backing it. The bookmaker's real contest moves into the handicap. On the Asian lines, -1.5 means the favourite must win by two clear goals; -1.75 splits the stake between -1.5 and -2, so a two-goal win pays half and refunds half. For most weekends the honest question in la liga predictions about a giant at home is not whether they win but whether they win by two.

Atlético are priced differently. Their game rests on defending, and seven goals conceded in seven rounds fits that. Atlético handicaps are usually set lower than those of Barcelona or Real, and the under on total goals often attracts the same bettors who back them.

Lower down the table the matches tend to be tighter, and the current figures point the same way. Málaga have scored three goals in seven matches, Valencia and Getafe four each. Getafe have also conceded just seven. When two clubs with numbers like these meet, the draw and the under 2.5 goals line are where we usually look first, before any side in the result market. The broader mechanics of 1X2, handicap and goals markets are covered on our football betting guide.

Matchday 8 after the international break: our predictions

The league returns on Friday 9 October and the round runs until Monday 12 October. These are our la liga predictions for the five fixtures where we hold a clear view. The prices are our own estimates of a fair line, not quotes from any sportsbook, and the views are editorial opinion.

Racing Santander v ValenciaSun 11 OctRacing draw no betabout 2.20

The first Clásico of the season, on 25 October at Spotify Camp Nou, has its own Barcelona v Real Madrid preview.

Barcelona v Getafe. Our view: Barcelona by two or more. Getafe defend well, seven conceded in seven, which is why we stop at -1.5 rather than chase a bigger line. Barcelona have scored 31 in seven, and a two-goal margin at home is the fair test of that form.

Real Madrid v Villarreal. Our pick is a home win with both sides scoring. Real lost the derby before the break and have dropped points twice, while Villarreal beat Levante 3–1 in their last match. We expect Real to win, but not without conceding.

Alavés v Atlético Madrid. Our view: a low-scoring match. Alavés have conceded six in seven, Atlético seven. The result is the hardest call of the round; the goal line is the easier one.

Real Betis v Osasuna. Betis are third but have scored only nine. Osasuna have conceded 13. Draw no bet keeps the stake if Betis are held, which suits a side whose results have been better than their goal difference.

Racing Santander v Valencia. Our pick is Racing with the draw covered. Racing concede plenty, but Valencia have four goals all season and have won once. Expect a nervous game between two clubs already looking over their shoulders.

Outrights: title, top four and relegation

Everything in this section is opinion: season-long la liga predictions carry more uncertainty than any single match.

Title. Barcelona are five points clear after a perfect start, and their outright price will reflect that. We see them as clear favourites, but the short price leaves little to gain at this stage. The value, if any, sits with Real Madrid at a longer price than their squad deserves after two early defeats; Atlético, in our view, are better backed for a top-two finish than for the title.

Top four. This is where we think the table and the prices will drift apart. Betis are third on a thin goal difference, and Sevilla and Alavés are close behind. Our view is that the four places most likely end up shared by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético, with Betis, Sevilla and the clubs just below fighting over the last one. A price on Betis missing the top four looks the more interesting side to us.

Relegation. Three go down. Málaga are last without a win and have the weakest attack in the division. Valencia are the name to watch: a club of their size tends to be priced on reputation, and in our view their relegation odds may be longer than seven rounds of results justify. Elche and Levante, both on five points, complete the group we would watch most closely.

Where to watch La Liga

Matches are shown by national broadcasters in each market, and the league's own channels carry highlights, clips and match coverage. Rights holders change from country to country and from season to season, so check the listings where you live before matchday.

Some betting sites also let account holders watch a share of matches inside the account itself. We have picked out sites that offer this, but no two carry the same list of games: one may show most of a round, another only a handful of fixtures, and coverage can change from week to week.

Streams are shown to signed-in accounts on selected events, and the list differs between betting sites and between matches. 18+.

Who is top of La Liga in 2026-27?
Barcelona. They won all seven matches before the international break and lead on 21 points, five clear of Atlético Madrid and Real Betis, according to the official table on laliga.com after matchday 7.
When does La Liga return after the October international break?
Matchday 8 starts on Friday 9 October 2026 with Málaga against Espanyol and finishes on Monday 12 October with Levante against Sevilla.
Why bet a handicap instead of the match result on Barcelona or Real Madrid?
Because the result price on a big club at home is often too short to be worth backing. A handicap such as -1.5 asks for a two-goal win and pays a much longer price. The risk is a one-goal win, which loses the bet.
Are your La Liga predictions tips from a sportsbook?
No. They are our editorial opinion. The prices in our table are our own estimates of what a fair line should look like, not quotes from any operator. Always check the live price before you bet.
How many clubs are relegated from La Liga?
Three. The bottom three at the end of the season drop to the Segunda División. After seven rounds of 2026-27 that zone holds Elche, Valencia and Málaga.
