Coco Gauff has reached three finals and two major semi-finals in 2026 and won one title, Cincinnati in August. She is back on court in Beijing after nearly three weeks off, through to the fourth round of a tournament she won in 2024, and the top seed, Elena Rybakina, is already out. That makes the next week the most interesting stretch for Coco Gauff odds since the US Open.

WTA ranking (28 September 2026)No.4, 7,244 points

Other big titlesWTA Finals 2024, four WTA 1000 events

Jessica Pegula sits one place above her, only 21 points ahead, so the order of the top four can change with a good week in China. Our Jessica Pegula profile follows the other side of that race.

Record

Gauff has twelve singles titles. The two majors came three years apart and against the same player: she beat Aryna Sabalenka in the 2023 US Open final and again, from a set down, in the 2025 French Open final. She won the WTA Finals in 2024, Beijing that autumn and Wuhan in October 2025. Our WTA Finals odds page follows the race.

Her 2026 season has been full of late rounds and short of trophies.

Two lines stand out. Svitolina has beaten her three times this year, and Rybakina twice on North American hard courts. The Paris defeat ended a run of 137 weeks in the top five; she is back at No.4 now. Wimbledon, on the other hand, was a breakthrough: she arrived without a grass-court win in two years and left with semi-finals at all four majors on her record, having held a match point against Muchová.

What is known about Coco Gauff

Wikipedia records that hard courts are her favourite surface while clay has brought her best results. She describes her own game as highly aggressive with a powerful serve, and her speed lets her stay in points she should lose.

The serve is the variable. Wikipedia notes that she struggled with it during the 2025 North American swing, and in August 2025 she hired Gavin MacMillan, a biomechanics specialist. In her third-round win in Beijing she served five aces and four double faults, which is roughly her pattern: no longer a liability, but not a shot that wins matches on its own. In the second round Camila Osorio broke her five times.

The head-to-heads explain much of how Coco Gauff odds move against the top players:

  • Sabalenka leads 7–6, but Gauff won both of their major finals. Our Aryna Sabalenka profile covers that rivalry from the other side.
  • Świątek leads 11–5, yet Gauff has won the last four, the latest at the 2026 United Cup.
  • Rybakina beat her in Toronto and New York this summer; see Elena Rybakina's profile.
  • Mertens, her next opponent, has lost all five of their matches.

China Open: chances and why

The tournament runs to 11 October. The fourth round is scheduled for 6–7 October, the quarter-finals for 8–9 October and the semi-finals for 10 October.

Our estimate for the Mertens match: Gauff 74 per cent, fair odds about 1.35; Mertens 26 per cent, about 3.85. For the title: Gauff 21 per cent, fair odds about 4.75. These are our estimates, not bookmaker prices.

  1. The venue. Beijing champion in 2024 and into the last sixteen for a fourth straight year. The WTA puts her at 24–3 at tour level in China.
  2. The head-to-head. 5–0 against Mertens, including a comeback win in Dubai this year.
  3. The draw has opened. Rybakina, who beat her twice this summer, lost her first match.
  4. Rust. The case against: she needed three sets against Osorio after three weeks away, and she has lost two of her three finals this year.

Looking further ahead, the Australian Open 2027 is the next major. Her best result there is a semi-final in 2024, so Coco Gauff odds for Melbourne should sit behind the players who have won it.

How to bet on Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff odds come in several forms beyond the match winner, and her three-set habit makes some of them more useful than usual.

  • Match winner. Our odds calculator converts a quoted price into a percentage. Against Mertens, anything shorter than about 1.35 is below our fair figure.
  • Set betting and total sets. Her Dubai semi-final, the Miami and Rome finals, the Wimbledon semi-final and the Osorio match in Beijing all went to a third set, so the price on a deciding set deserves a look whenever she meets someone in the top 15.
  • Game handicaps. Gauff -4.5 games, for example, needs a clear win. Our handicap betting guide covers the rules.
  • Outrights. Beijing is open after Rybakina's exit. Compare several sites, because outright margins in a 96-player field are wide.

Settlement rules for retirements, which matter for a player who retired at Indian Wells this year, are on the tennis betting hub. If you have not picked a site yet, our guide to betting sites with no verification compares the ones we review.

Where to watch

WTA events are shown by broadcasters that buy the rights country by country, and the WTA's own platforms carry scores and the order of play. Check which channel has Beijing where you are before the fourth round.

Some sportsbooks also show tennis to members who are logged in. We favour sites that offer this, although the share of WTA matches varies from one site to the next and by country. It is worth checking what your account shows before you bet live.

Streams are shown to signed-in accounts on selected events, and the list differs between betting sites and between matches. 18+.
