Terence Crawford: Retired at 42-0, and What a Return Would Be Worth
Terence Crawford beat Canelo Álvarez in September 2025, retired three months later at 42-0, and in September 2026 teased a fight with Jaron Ennis before walking it back. There is no fight to bet on. Here is his record, how he wins, and how we would price a comeback.
Terence Crawford is the rare boxer whose price matters most when he is not fighting. He retired on 16 December 2025, unbeaten in 42 fights and three months after outpointing Canelo Álvarez for the undisputed super middleweight title. In September 2026 he asked Jaron Ennis in public whether he would fight him if he came back, got a yes, and then said he had only wanted to see the reaction. Terence Crawford odds today are a question about a return, not about a fight, and this page is built around that.

Record: the wins that built the price
Crawford's career is a staircase. He won the WBO lightweight title from Ricky Burns in Glasgow in 2014 and finished at 167.5 lb against Álvarez eleven years later. The fights below are the ones that changed how bookmakers priced him.
| Date | Opponent | Result | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13 Sep 2025 | Canelo Álvarez | Won, UD (116–112, 115–113, 115–113) | Las Vegas; undisputed super middleweight |
| 3 Aug 2024 | Israil Madrimov | Won, UD | Los Angeles; WBA super welterweight |
| 29 Jul 2023 | Errol Spence Jr. | Won, TKO round 9 | Las Vegas; undisputed welterweight |
| 20 Nov 2021 | Shawn Porter | Won, TKO round 10 | Las Vegas; kept WBO welterweight |
| 9 Jun 2018 | Jeff Horn | Won, TKO round 9 | Las Vegas; won WBO welterweight |
| 19 Aug 2017 | Julius Indongo | Won, KO round 3 | Lincoln, Nebraska; undisputed light welterweight |
| 23 Jul 2016 | Viktor Postol | Won, UD | Las Vegas; unified light welterweight |
| 1 Mar 2014 | Ricky Burns | Won, UD | Glasgow; first world title |
Eleven of the 42 wins went to the scorecards. The last two did: Madrimov was the first opponent since Postol in 2016 to take him the full twelve rounds, and Álvarez was the second. Before that he had stopped opponents in eleven consecutive world title fights.
What is known about Terence Crawford
He switches stance more fluently than almost anyone of his era, and each switch changes the angle of attack as well as the lead foot. He is a slow starter by design: Wikipedia describes him using the early rounds to study timing and habits before changing gears, often with a single exchange. Against Spence he dropped his man in the second round and twice in the seventh, and was ahead 79–70 on all three cards when it was stopped in the ninth.
The late fights showed limits as well as range. Madrimov's speed and feints kept him from settling, and the scores were 116–112, 115–113 and 115–113. Against Álvarez he started cautiously, took control with a hook in the sixth, survived a cut from a clash of heads in the ninth and finished the stronger man. That fight was at the heaviest weight of his career.
After the Álvarez win, the WBC stripped him of its title in December 2025 over unpaid sanctioning fees. Two weeks later he retired, writing that he was walking away with nothing left to prove, and later saying that 38 is old in boxing.
A comeback: chances and why
There is no fight, so there is no market in the normal sense. What a bettor can price is how likely a return is, and how a return fight would look.
On 4 September 2026 Crawford dismissed comeback talk aimed at him by Ryan Garcia. Six days later he asked Ennis whether he would fight him, and Ennis answered “1000%” before Crawford said he had only been testing the reaction. On 11 September Dana White said that if he brought Crawford the right fight, Crawford would take it. Ennis is 29 and holds two super welterweight world titles.
Our estimates, not bookmaker prices:
| Question | Our estimate | Fair price |
|---|---|---|
| Crawford has a professional fight before the end of 2027 | 30% | 3.33 |
| If Crawford fights Ennis: Crawford wins | 45% | 2.22 |
| If Crawford fights Ennis: Ennis wins | 53% | 1.89 |
| If Crawford fights Ennis: draw | 2% | 50.0 |
Why we would make Crawford the underdog against Ennis:
- Age and time off. He would be 39 or 40 and coming back from more than a year out, against a champion ten years younger.
- The last two fights went long. Madrimov and Álvarez both took him the distance, and Madrimov's hand speed kept him from settling for long spells.
Why it would still be close:
- Adaptation. His record is built on solving opponents in the middle rounds, and he has never lost.
- Weight. Ennis fights at super welterweight. Where the fight is set would move Terence Crawford odds more than any other single fact.
Our odds calculator turns these fair prices into fractions or American odds.

The general rules for boxing markets are in our boxing betting guide. For a retired fighter, the questions are different.
- Return specials. Where a site offers one, read the wording: a fight announced is not the same as a fight that takes place.
- Ante-post on a named fight. If Crawford and an opponent are linked before signing, check how a bet settles if the fight falls through.
- Method markets. With eleven decisions in 42 wins and the last two both on points, a comeback fight against an elite opponent points towards the scorecards in our view.
- The weigh-in. Watch the weight first. He was at his heaviest against Álvarez, and Ennis would bring him back down.
Until something is signed, Terence Crawford odds are a judgment on what he wants, not on what he can still do.
Where to watch
His last fight, against Álvarez, streamed on Netflix. A return would be shown wherever the promoter sells it, and that would vary by country. Some betting sites also run live boxing streams for customers, mostly smaller cards; we picked sites that offer this, and what they show changes week to week.
Crawford shares the rare record of being undisputed in more than one division with Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue. Another unbeaten champion who moved up through the weights is David Benavidez, and the heavyweight fight of the winter is on our Tyson Fury page.
