Chovy and Gen.G: Korea's Top Seed Still Chasing a First World Title
Jeong Ji-hoon has won six Korean titles and two Mid-Season Invitationals, but never the World Championship. Gen.G go to Worlds 2026 as LCK champions and Korea's first seed, which makes them the side the market is likely to rate highest.
Chovy, born Jeong Ji-hoon, plays mid lane for Gen.G and is the most consistent winner in Korean League of Legends over the past five years: six domestic titles since 2022, two Mid-Season Invitationals and the league's season MVP award five times. The one trophy missing is the World Championship. Gen.G arrive at Worlds 2026, played in the United States from 15 October to 14 November, as the newly crowned LCK champions, so the betting question is whether this is the year the domestic dominance carries over.

What is known about Chovy
Lane control. His reputation rests on winning the early lane without taking risks. Liquipedia records him as the first player to reach a KDA of 100 over a season, in early 2019, and as the LCK regular season MVP of Spring 2019 while still at Griffin.
Range of champions. By July 2024 he had played 60 different champions in the LCK. With Fearless Draft at Worlds 2026, no champion can be picked twice by a team in the same series, so that breadth has a direct price value in best-of-threes and best-of-fives.
Recognition. Five LCK season MVP awards, Finals MVP at MSI 2025, and Best Esports Athlete at The Game Awards 2025.
The international gap. Gen.G have been beaten in three Worlds semifinals with him in the side, the last of them 1–3 by KT Rolster in 2025. In 2026 they also lost the First Stand semifinal 0–3 to G2 and missed MSI after a 2–3 defeat to T1. The domestic machine has been harder to transfer to the biggest stage, and that is the main argument against backing Gen.G short.
Worlds 2026: chances and why
Our view: Gen.G win Worlds 2026 about one time in five, 20 per cent, which makes a fair price of 5.00. That figure is our estimate, not a bookmaker price.
The reasons behind it:
- Best 2026 domestic record. LCK Cup and LCK season champions, and a 3–1 final win over Hanwha Life, the side that won MSI.
- The friendliest first round. As pool 1 they open against a pool 4 team from another region: CTBC Flying Oyster, Invictus Gaming or the play-in winner.
- Experience at the top level. Canyon and Ruler are both former world champions according to the tournament roster, so the side is not short of knockout experience even if Chovy is.
- Against them: the semifinal wall. Three Worlds semifinals lost, plus two international losses in 2026 to G2 and T1. Their best-of-five record against non-Korean opposition this year is not convincing.
- Against them: rivals at home. Hanwha Life (MSI champions) and T1 (three straight world titles) can both meet them in the knockouts.
How to bet on Chovy
A player cannot win Worlds alone, so the core bets go through Gen.G.
- Outright on Gen.G. The cleanest way to back him. If the opening price is shorter than our 5.00, the market rates them higher than we do.
- To reach the semifinals or final. Gen.G have reached the last four regularly; turning that into a title is where they have failed. A stage market pays for the part they do well.
- Map handicap −1.5 in best-of-threes. In the Swiss qualification and elimination matches, a strong mid lane and wide champion pool favour clean 2–0 wins over weaker regions. Read the handicap guide before backing a 2–0.
- Mid-lane player props. Kill totals and kills plus assists on single maps appear at some sportsbooks for the biggest names. Lines move with the draft, so wait for picks where you can.
- Staking. If you think our 20 per cent is too low or too high, the Kelly calculator turns your own estimate into a stake.
Where to watch
Every match is broadcast by Riot Games on the official LoL Esports channels on Twitch and YouTube, and the Korean broadcast runs on the LCK's own channels. Several betting sites also offer a match stream or visual tracker to signed-in users for some games; we listed sites where this is available, but the coverage is not the same everywhere, so check before the match rather than at the start of it.
