Faker at Worlds 2026: Six Titles Behind Him, T1 Seeded Third
Lee Sang-hyeok has won the World Championship six times, the last three in a row. He arrives in the United States with T1 as Korea's third seed after an uneven 2026, and the market still prices the team on that record.
Faker, real name Lee Sang-hyeok, is the mid laner and captain of T1 and the most decorated player League of Legends has produced. He has lifted the World Championship trophy six times, including the last three editions in a row, and Worlds 2026 in the United States, from 15 October to 14 November, is his chance at a seventh. For bettors the question is simple to ask and hard to answer: how much of T1's price is the record, and how much is the 2026 form?

Series record in the 2026 international and knockout matches listed: 4 wins, 3 losses. The 2025 win in Chengdu was his eighth Worlds final and made him the first player with six world titles.
What is known about Faker
Longevity at the top. He has reached eight Worlds finals across thirteen years. No other player has kept a place on a title-winning roster across that many changes of patch, meta and teammates.
He decides the knockouts. Three of his six titles came after 2022, and T1's path in 2025 ran through close series: a 3–2 quarterfinal over Anyone's Legend, a 3–0 semifinal over Top Esports and a 3–2 final. When a best-of-five goes long, T1 has usually been the team that closes it.
Calm over hype. The Faker of 2026 is not the solo-kill machine of his first season, when he took four kills in eight minutes on debut. His value now sits in shotcalling, map timing and champion breadth, which is what the format rewards.
The weak spot is the domestic season. In 2026 T1 went out of the LCK Cup to Dplus KIA, won only one of three series at MSI and finished third in the domestic playoffs. Bettors who price T1 only on Worlds history pay for the record and get the form.
Worlds 2026: chances and why
Our estimate: about 12 per cent for T1 to win Worlds 2026, a fair price near 8.30. This is our estimate, not a bookmaker price. Opening prices may sit shorter, because the market tends to respect the three straight titles.
Why 12 per cent and not more:
- Seeding. T1 is Korea's third seed and sits in pool 3 for the first Swiss round, so its round-one opponent comes from pool 2 and from another region: Secret Whales, Bilibili Gaming or Brazil's first seed. Gen.G, the LCK champion, and Hanwha Life, the MSI champion, both arrive with stronger 2026 results.
- Uneven form. A 2–3 loss to Bilibili Gaming and a 1–3 loss to G2 at MSI show the side can be beaten by the best of China and Europe in a long series.
- The format suits T1. Swiss qualification and elimination matches are best-of-three, and the knockouts are best-of-five, all with Fearless Draft, which bans repeating a champion within a series. Deep champion pools and experienced shotcalling count for more there than in a single game.
- Recent major form is good. Faker came back from Japan with Asian Games gold less than two weeks before Worlds, and the KeSPA Cup in the off-season ended with a win over Hanwha Life.
- History. Three titles in a row is the strongest knockout record of any current roster. We do not price that at zero, but we do not price it as a certainty either.
How to bet on Faker
There is no market on a single player winning Worlds, so a bet on him is mostly a bet on T1.
- Outright winner. T1 to win the tournament. Prices move most after the Swiss stage, once the quarterfinal draw is known.
- To reach the knockouts or the final. A smaller return than the outright, for bettors who trust T1 in best-of-threes but not in four best-of-fives.
- Series winner and map handicaps. In best-of-fives, T1 +1.5 maps against a stronger seed is the classic way to back a side that rarely loses heavily. The handicap betting guide explains the arithmetic.
- Player props. Some sportsbooks list kill totals or kills plus assists for the mid laner on single maps. Coverage varies a lot, and lines are thin, so compare before betting.
- Live markets. LoL maps swing on dragons and Baron. The live betting guide covers how in-play prices react.
Convert any price to a probability with the odds calculator; if the implied figure is well above 12 per cent, our view says the price is short.

Riot Games streams every Worlds match on the official LoL Esports channels on Twitch and YouTube, and regional channels carry broadcasts in Korean, Chinese, Portuguese and other languages. Some sportsbooks also run a stream or a live tracker inside the account for a portion of the matches; we picked sites where that exists, but which games they carry changes from one site to the next, so keep the official channel open as well.

The Worlds 2026 page has the full team list and schedule, and the League of Legends betting guide covers how map and series markets work. For the two Korean rivals, read our profiles of Chovy and Gumayusi, and for the other games on the calendar see the esports section.
