Premier League betting after the long break: table, prices and our picks
Five rounds in, Manchester City are perfect and Tottenham are bottom. The league returns on 10 October after a sixteen-day international window, and this page sets out where the 2026-27 table stands, how the market prices it and what we expect from the next round.
No league takes more money than the English top flight, and that volume is why its prices are the sharpest in football. These Premier League predictions start from where the 2026–27 season actually stands on 5 October 2026: five rounds played, a sixteen-day international window just ending, and Matchweek 6 kicking off on Saturday 10 October.

Where the 2026–27 season stands
The season opened on 21 August and paused after Matchweek 5 on 20 September. The table below is the standing after those five rounds, as published by Sky Sports and matching the official count.
| Pos | Club | W-D-L | Goals | Pts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Manchester City | 5-0-0 | 13–5 | 15 |
| 2 | Arsenal | 4-0-1 | 8–4 | 12 |
| 3 | Brighton & Hove Albion | 3-1-1 | 16–5 | 10 |
| 4 | Brentford | 2-3-0 | 10–4 | 9 |
| 5 | Leeds United | 2-3-0 | 7–3 | 9 |
| 18 | Coventry City | 1-0-4 | 1–10 | 3 |
| 19 | Fulham | 0-2-3 | 5–8 | 2 |
| 20 | Tottenham Hotspur | 0-2-3 | 2–8 | 2 |
Manchester City are the only club with a perfect record, in Enzo Maresca's first season after succeeding Pep Guardiola. Arsenal, the defending champions, sit three points back with one defeat. Brighton have scored 16, more than anyone, and Leeds and Everton have conceded only three each. Liverpool, now under Andoni Iraola, are unbeaten but have drawn three of five and sit sixth.
At the bottom, Tottenham have no win and two goals. Coventry, back after twenty-five years away, have scored once. Of the three promoted clubs, Hull City have started best and sit eighth on eight points.
How Premier League odds are priced
The result market on a Premier League match is the most heavily traded football price in the world. That depth does two things. Margins on the match result are thinner than on almost any other league, and the opening line is already close to fair, so the edge for a bettor rarely sits in the headline price. It sits in timing and in the secondary markets.
Team news is the biggest driver. A confirmed absence for a first-choice striker or goalkeeper can move a price within a minute of the line-ups going public, roughly an hour before kick-off. If you have a view that depends on who starts, either bet early and accept the risk, or wait for the team sheet and accept a worse number.
The international break adds a layer. This season the September and October windows were merged into one sixteen-day block from 21 September to 6 October, so national teams played four matches instead of the usual two. More minutes and more travel for internationals mean more late doubts, and clubs with large international squads carry more of that risk into the Saturday lunchtime game. We treat early prices after a break with extra caution, and our Premier League predictions below are built with that in mind. Read our football betting guide for how the core markets work, and the best odds betting sites page for where margins are lowest.
Next round: our Premier League predictions
Matchweek 6 runs from Saturday 10 to Monday 12 October. Fixtures and dates below come from the official fixture list; times are UK time and can still change. Every price is our estimate, not a quote from any sportsbook.
| Fixture | Date | Our view | Expected price (estimate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arsenal v Leeds United | Sat 10 Oct, 12:30 | Arsenal win, under 3.5 goals | around 1.75 (estimate) |
| Manchester United v Tottenham | Sat 10 Oct, 17:30 | Manchester United win | around 2.10 (estimate) |
| Sunderland v Brighton | Sat 10 Oct, 15:00 | Brighton win | around 2.25 (estimate) |
| Liverpool v Manchester City | Sun 11 Oct, 16:30 | City draw no bet | around 2.05 (estimate) |
| Coventry City v Newcastle | Mon 12 Oct, 20:00 | Newcastle win | around 2.15 (estimate) |
The biggest match of the round has its own page: our Liverpool v Manchester City preview covers form, head-to-head and team news in full.
Arsenal v Leeds. Arsenal have conceded four in five; Leeds have conceded three and have not lost. That is two good defences, and an early kick-off straight after a long break. Our view is an Arsenal win in a low-scoring game, which is why we pair it with under 3.5 goals rather than chase a handicap.
Manchester United v Tottenham. United have one win in five and an even goal difference. Tottenham have scored twice all season and sit bottom. The case for United rests less on their form than on Tottenham's lack of goals. Our view: home win, with the draw the main danger.
Sunderland v Brighton. Brighton's 16 goals in five games are the best attacking return in the division. Sunderland have conceded ten. Our view is an away win; the main risk is that Brighton's attacking numbers include one or two heavy wins that flatter them.
Liverpool v Manchester City. This is the round's biggest game and the one the title market will react to most. City arrive with five wins from five; Liverpool are unbeaten but have drawn three times. Our view is City draw no bet: it keeps the stake alive on a draw at Anfield, which we rate as a real outcome between two sides who have both lost nothing so far.
Coventry City v Newcastle. Coventry have one goal in five matches and sit eighteenth. Newcastle are ninth with nine scored and nine conceded. Our view is an away win on the Monday night, while noting that Newcastle's defensive record leaves room for a home goal.
We do not have verified line-ups or head-to-head figures for these fixtures, so we have left them out rather than guess. Check confirmed teams before kick-off; Premier League betting on a team you assumed would start is the most common avoidable mistake.

Everything in this section is our opinion, not a forecast with a number attached. Longer-range Premier League predictions carry more uncertainty than single-match tips, so read them as a starting point.
Title. The outright market, as reported on 21 September, had Arsenal as slight favourites with unbeaten City close behind and a wide gap to Liverpool and Chelsea. Our view: City's three-point lead and perfect start under a new manager deserve more weight than the market gave them at that point. Liverpool v City on 11 October will tell us more than any preview.
Top four. Brighton and Brentford are in the top four after five games, and neither was priced as a top-four side before the season. Our view is that one of them can stay in the race into the new year, with Brighton the stronger case on goals scored.
Relegation. Coventry's one goal in five is the number that worries us most. Fulham and Tottenham are level on two points, but a two-point start does not decide a season. Our view: Coventry are the likeliest of the current bottom three to stay there; Tottenham at short relegation prices would not appeal to us.
Top scorer. Erling Haaland leads with five goals and won the Golden Boot last season. Alexander Isak, now at Liverpool, has four. Our view: Haaland is the right favourite; Isak is the one alternative worth watching at a bigger price.

Where to watch
Premier League matches are shown by national broadcasters, with rights sold market by market, and the league's own channels carry highlights and match information. In the UK, the official fixture list for Matchweek 6 names Sky Sports and TNT Sports for the televised games. Outside the UK, check the official Premier League website for the rights holder in your country.
A number of betting sites also run live video for some matches inside a logged-in account. We have picked out sites where that option exists, but what is shown varies by site and by country, so check before you rely on it.

If you also follow European nights, our Champions League page and La Liga page apply the same approach. How we judge the sites we list is set out in our methodology, and our responsible gambling page covers limits and support.
These Premier League predictions will be revisited once Matchweek 6 is played. Treat each pick as one view among many, stake what you can afford to lose, and remember that a good price on a wrong call is still a loss.
