System Bet Calculator: Every Combination on One Slip
A system bet splits your picks into every possible double, treble or bigger combination, so one loser does not sink the slip. Enter the prices, choose how to combine them and mark the results: the calculator counts the bets, the stake and the return.
An accumulator is all or nothing: one wrong result and the whole slip loses. A system bet is the compromise. It takes the same picks and places every combination of a size you choose, so a slip with one loser can still pay. The price of that cover is more bets, and so a bigger total stake. This system bet calculator shows exactly what you are buying.

How to use the system bet calculator
The system bet calculator settles any slip from three to ten selections.
- Pick the odds format. Decimal is the default; fractional and American prices work too, and the calculator converts between them.
- Leave the bet type on System (N from M), or choose a named full-cover bet such as a Trixie, Yankee, Canadian, Heinz or Goliath.
- Add a line for each selection and type its price.
- Under System: combine by, tick the sizes you want. Ticking 2 on three selections gives a 2 from 3 system; ticking 2 and 3 adds the treble.
- Enter the stake per bet or for the whole slip, then mark each leg as won, lost, void or dead heat.
The summary shows the number of bets, the total stake, the return and the profit. Change any result and it settles again at once.
What “N from M” means
A system is named by two numbers: how many picks go into each bet (N) and how many picks are on the slip (M). The number of bets is the number of ways to choose N from M.
| System | Selections | Bets | Fewest winners for a return |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 from 3 | 3 | 3 doubles | 2 |
| 2 from 4 | 4 | 6 doubles | 2 |
| 3 from 4 | 4 | 4 trebles | 3 |
| 2 from 5 | 5 | 10 doubles | 2 |
| 3 from 5 | 5 | 10 trebles | 3 |
| 4 from 5 | 5 | 5 four-folds | 4 |
| 3 from 6 | 6 | 20 trebles | 3 |
| 4 from 6 | 6 | 15 four-folds | 4 |
The pattern matters for the stake. A 3 from 6 system at one unit a line costs twenty units, not six, and the return from three winners is a single treble. Before you build a big system, look at what the minimum number of winners actually pays.
A worked example: 2 from 3
Three picks at decimal odds of 2.10, 1.83 and 3.40, one unit on each double, three units in total.
- All three win: the doubles pay 3.843, 7.14 and 6.222, a return of 17.205 and a profit of 14.205 units.
- The 3.40 pick loses: only the first double survives and returns 3.843, a profit of 0.843.
- The 2.10 pick loses: only 1.83 × 3.40 survives and returns 6.222, a profit of 3.222.
- Two picks lose: nothing returns, and the three units are gone.
The same three picks as a treble would have paid 13.07 from a one-unit stake with all three right and nothing at all with one wrong. The system gives up some of the top-end return for cover against one loser.
Full-cover systems by name
British bookmakers give names to the systems that cover every combination of two or more picks, and some add the singles too. The system bet calculator has each of them as a preset.
| Name | Selections | Bets | Made of |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trixie | 3 | 4 | 3 doubles, 1 treble |
| Patent | 3 | 7 | 3 singles, 3 doubles, 1 treble |
| Yankee | 4 | 11 | 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 four-fold |
| Lucky 15 | 4 | 15 | a Yankee plus 4 singles |
| Super Yankee or Canadian | 5 | 26 | 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds, 1 five-fold |
| Lucky 31 | 5 | 31 | a Canadian plus 5 singles |
| Heinz | 6 | 57 | every double up to the six-fold |
| Lucky 63 | 6 | 63 | a Heinz plus 6 singles |
| Super Heinz | 7 | 120 | every double up to the seven-fold |
| Goliath | 8 | 247 | every double up to the eight-fold |
The Canadian and Heinz names have the most searches of these, and both are easy to price wrongly by hand: twenty-six and fifty-seven bets are too many lines to multiply on a phone. Our Yankee calculator and Lucky 15 calculator have their own pages; the rest live in this system bet calculator.

Void legs. A non-runner, a postponed match or a void market is settled at 1.00. A double containing it becomes a single on the other leg, so a system with a void still pays on the remaining combinations.
Dead heats. When two runners tie for a place, the stake on that leg is divided by the number of runners in the tie. The calculator applies that reduction to every combination the leg appears in.
Each way. Systems on horse racing and golf are often placed each way, which doubles the number of bets: one set for the win, one for the place. Pick the place terms in the each-way box and the calculator settles both halves. Our each way calculator explains the place part on a single bet.
When a system bet is worth it
A system is a way of paying for cover, not a way of beating the margin. Every combination carries the bookmaker's margin on each of its legs, so the more combinations you place, the more margin you pay in total. Three things make it more sensible:
- Prices that are long enough. A 2 from 3 on three short favourites barely returns the stake with two winners. Systems work better on picks priced around 2.00 and above.
- Picks you rate equally. If one pick is much stronger, a single on it and a smaller system on the rest is usually better value.
- A stake you would be happy to lose in full. Twenty-six bets at one unit is twenty-six units at risk.
The accumulator calculator and the parlay calculator show the all-or-nothing version of the same picks, which is worth comparing before you choose. The round robin calculator is the same tool set up with American odds.
Where to place a system bet
Not every sportsbook offers custom N from M systems; some offer only the named full-cover bets, and some cap the number of combinations on one slip. Look for a “system” tab on the bet slip before you build the picks. The comparison of betting sites without ID checks on our main page shows how much each operator pays out per day or week, which matters when a big system lands.
