Valorant Betting: Markets, Map Veto and the Champions Playoffs
Valorant betting looks like Counter-Strike on the surface and behaves differently underneath: agents, ultimates and a shorter economy make maps swing faster. Here is how Valorant markets work and how the Champions Shanghai playoffs are set up.
Valorant betting covers Riot Games' tactical shooter, the youngest of the four big esports and the one with the most volatile prices. A map is played to 13 rounds like Counter-Strike, but each player controls an agent with abilities and an ultimate, and team compositions change from map to map. That makes form, the agent meta and the map veto the three things to read before a bet.

How a Valorant match works
Most professional series are best-of-three; finals are best-of-five. Each map is a race to 13 rounds, with overtime at 12–12 played until one team leads by two. Teams switch between attack and defence at half-time. Before a series, teams ban and pick maps from the active pool, and they choose agents for each map.
The markets that matter
| Market | What you bet on | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Series winner | who wins the series | main market |
| Map handicap | -1.5 or +1.5 maps | 2–0 favourites, live underdogs |
| Map winner | one named map | opens after the veto |
| Round handicap | rounds given or taken on a map | strong on one-sided map picks |
| Total rounds | over or under a line | close teams, defender-sided maps |
| Pistol rounds | rounds 1 and 13 | swingier than in CS2 |
What to read before a Valorant bet
- The veto. As in CS2, a team's record on the maps left after the bans is a better guide than its overall record.
- Agent compositions. Patches change which agents are strong; teams that adapt quickly gain an edge in the first events after an update.
- Rosters. Valorant teams change players between seasons more often than CS2 teams, so last season's results can mislead early in the year.
- Regional strength. Like League of Legends, Valorant runs regional leagues: Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China, which meet at Masters events and Champions.
Valorant odds round by round
A Valorant map is first to 13 rounds, and at 12–12 overtime is played in pairs of rounds until one side leads by two. That structure drives three markets. The round handicap on a map (for example -3.5 rounds) rewards a favourite that wins comfortably; total rounds over or under a line such as 21.5 is really a bet on how close the map will be; and overtime yes or no is a cheap way to back a close contest. Each map in the veto changes the line, because some maps favour attackers and some defenders.
The pistol rounds, the first round of each half, decide more than their share. The team that wins a pistol round usually wins the next one or two rounds as well, because the losing side has little money to buy weapons. That is why a live price can swing hard after round 1 and round 13, and why many bettors wait for the first pistol before betting a map.
What to check at Valorant betting sites
- Map-level markets. Map winner, round handicap and total rounds per map, not only the match result.
- Pistol round markets. Not every book prices them; those that do usually price them both halves.
- Coverage below Champions. The VCT international leagues run most of the year; Challengers events are where coverage thins out.
- Overtime rules. Check whether round totals include overtime rounds, which most books do but not all state.
Valorant Champions 2026, Shanghai
Champions is the season's final event. In 2026 it is held in Shanghai from 24 September to 18 October, with sixteen teams and a $2.25 million prize pool. Eight teams reached the playoffs, played from 7 to 18 October as a double-elimination bracket. Every series is best-of-three except the lower bracket final and the grand final, which are best-of-five. The opening playoff matches are 100 Thieves against G2 Esports, Team Vitality against Nongshim RedForce, NRG against T1, and Paper Rex against LOUD. The Americas sent four teams to the playoffs, the Pacific three and EMEA one. Our Valorant Champions 2026 page follows the bracket.

Where to watch Valorant
Riot streams Champions free on the official VALORANT Champions Tour channels on Twitch and YouTube, with co-streams in many languages. Some betting sites show streams or trackers on selected matches to signed-in accounts; the selection differs from site to site.
The account behind a Valorant bet
A Valorant bet uses the same wallet and terms as any other bet. The fast withdrawal betting sites page compares payout periods, and the esports betting section covers the other games.
The Valorant players we profile
Each profile covers the player's role, team, recent results and what the player means for map and match prices.
