How a CS2 match is structured
A professional CS2 match is usually a best-of-three series; group stages sometimes use a best-of-one, and finals a best-of-five. Each map is a race to 13 rounds out of 24. At 12–12 the map goes to overtime, played in blocks of six rounds. The two teams swap sides, attack and defence, at half-time, and many maps favour one side, so the half-time score can mislead.
Before the series, teams take turns to ban and pick maps from the active pool of seven. That veto is the single most useful piece of information for a CS2 bet.

The map winner is where CS2 betting becomes most specific. A team's overall record hides a lot; its record on Mirage or Inferno over the last three months is a sharper guide than its world ranking.
What to read before you bet
- The veto. Who picks what, and which map is the decider. Most sportsbooks open map markets once the veto is announced.
- Form on the specific map. Win rates and round differential on each map over the last few months.
- Rosters and stand-ins. A stand-in in a five-player team is a bigger change than a single absence in football. Prices sometimes lag behind a late roster announcement.
- Side preference. Some maps lean towards the defending side; a team that starts on defence there has an edge in the first half.
- Format. A best-of-one is close to a coin toss between similar teams; a best-of-three rewards the stronger, deeper map pool.
Live betting on CS2
CS2 suits live betting because the game has natural pauses: the buy period between rounds, half-time and the switch between maps. Prices move round by round, and the economy, how much money each team has to buy weapons, explains much of that movement. A team that loses the pistol round usually loses the next round too, because it cannot afford full equipment, so the price after a pistol win often overreacts for one round and then settles.

The second CS2 Major of 2026 is the PGL Major Singapore, from 25 November to 13 December. Thirty-two teams play three Swiss stages, with the top eight from each stage advancing. Elimination and advancement matches in the Swiss stages are best-of-three, the rest best-of-one. The playoffs, from 10 to 13 December at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, are single elimination: best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five.
