Russell Henley profile: the steadiest player in the top ten and his best Augusta yet
Russell Henley has six PGA Tour wins, no major and one of the most consistent records among the world's best players. A tie for third at the 2026 Masters and fourth place in the FedEx Cup keep him sixth in the world. Here is what that means for Augusta and Adare Manor.
Russell Henley does not win often, but he rarely has a bad week. He is sixth in the world, he tied for third at the 2026 Masters and he finished fourth in the FedEx Cup, all without a major title. That profile matters for betting: he is a player for place markets and matchups more than for a big outright, and the 2027 Masters and the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor both test it.

Record: six wins over 13 years
| Date | Event | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 13 Jan 2013 | Sony Open in Hawaii | Won at −24, by three |

| Aug 2026 | Tour Championship | Tied 4th; 4th in the FedEx Cup |
The 2025 season was his best in money terms: ten top-10 finishes and $14.7 million, fourth on the PGA Tour money list. At Bay Hill he trailed Morikawa by three with five holes left and won with a birdie at 14 and a chipped-in eagle at 16. At Colonial in 2026 he birdied his last three holes to catch Cole and won at the first extra hole.
His majors show a player who has moved into contention late in his career:
- Masters: tied 4th in 2023, tied 3rd in 2026; five top-25 finishes from ten starts
- The Open: 5th in 2024, tied 10th in 2025, tied 9th in 2026
- US Open: tied 7th in 2024, tied 10th in 2025; led after each of the first three rounds in 2021 before a closing 76
- PGA Championship: no top 10 in 13 starts, and missed the cut in 2025 and 2026
From the 2025 US Open to the 2026 Masters he finished in the top 10 at three majors in a row.
What is known about Russell Henley
He avoids mistakes. The PGA Tour's numbers before The Open had him fourth on tour in bogey avoidance, at 12.55% of holes.
Short off the tee. His average drive of 294.5 yards ranked 145th. He still gained shots off the tee, 37th on tour, which tells you the gain comes from finding the fairway, not from length.
A good putter. He ranked 31st in strokes gained putting and 25th in putts per round. His approach play sat 54th and his short game was close to tour average.
Even across the bag. He was 19th in strokes gained total, with no category in the red. That is the profile of a player who finishes in the top 10 a lot and wins when one part of the game runs hot.
Masters 2027: chances and why
Augusta stages the 2027 Masters from 8 to 11 April. Henley was born in Macon and played his college golf at the University of Georgia. Under the 2026 categories the top 12 and ties from the previous Masters are invited, so his tie for third in 2026 brings him back.
Our estimate: about 3% to win, a fair price near 33/1. This is our estimate, not a bookmaker price.
Why:
- His Augusta form is improving. Tied 4th in 2023 and tied 3rd in 2026, with a 66 in the third round last April.
- He seldom beats himself. Bogey avoidance is a strong base on a course where one bad hole ends a week.
- Length counts against him. In our view the par 5s at Augusta give longer hitters an edge, and his driving distance ranked 145th on tour.
- He has not closed a major yet. The 2021 US Open, where he led for three rounds, is the clearest example.

Ryder Cup 2027: his role at Adare Manor
Adare Manor in County Limerick hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup from 17 to 19 September, with Jim Furyk as US captain and Luke Donald leading Europe. US points are earned in 31 events from The American Express in January 2027 to the BMW Championship in August, with the top six qualifying and six picks to follow.
Henley qualified automatically for Bethpage in 2025 but scored half a point from three matches. He and Scottie Scheffler lost both their foursomes, 5 and 3 to Ludvig Åberg and Matt Fitzpatrick and 1 down to Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland. In the singles he halved with Shane Lowry, whose birdie on the 18th retained the cup. He was fifth on the US list for the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah, which the Americans won, behind Cameron Young and Wyndham Clark among others.
Our view: he will be close to the automatic places again, but he turns 38 in April 2027 and his one Ryder Cup returned half a point. If he qualifies, he plays. If he finishes seventh or eighth, his selection depends on how Furyk weighs steadiness against the Bethpage result. The match markets are explained on our Ryder Cup betting page.

- Top 10 and top 20. The natural market for him. Seven major top-10 finishes and ten tour top-10s in 2025 point here.
- Each way. Better value than the win alone, since the place part pays on the finishes he produces most. Our each way calculator shows how place terms change the return.
- Matchups. Against a longer, more erratic player of a similar price, his low bogey rate is an edge in 72-hole matchups.
- Top American or top nationality markets. Where they are offered, these remove the non-US contenders and suit a player who is often near the top without winning.

Where to watch
Each major and PGA Tour event is shown by national broadcasters, with rights agreed separately in each country. The championships and the tour also run their own streams and highlights on their websites and apps. Your local listings will show who carries which round.
Some betting sites show golf to logged-in customers too, though it is usually a limited number of groups. We point out which sites do this, but the coverage on offer is different at each, so look at the schedule before you rely on it.
Keep stakes to money you can afford to lose. Our responsible gambling page lists the controls available.
