Grass is the one surface where the serve decides more than the rally, and that single fact shapes every set of Wimbledon odds. The 2027 Championships start on Monday 28 June, so this page is a long-range read: what the format rewards, what the 2026 draws showed, and where we think the outright prices should start.

Wimbledon 2027: dates, grass season and format

The Championships 2027 run from 28 June to 11 July, according to the tournament's own site, which bills the year as 150 Years of The Championships. The first edition was played in 1877. The public ballot for 2027 tickets has already closed.

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam still played on grass. Since 2015 it has started three weeks after the French Open, which leaves a short run of grass events in between. Players arrive with only a handful of matches on the surface, and that thin form guide shapes early Wimbledon odds; it is also one of the reasons grass prices move so much in the first week.

The format is fixed and worth knowing before you bet:

The 2026 champions

The official draw sheets on wimbledon.com give the full picture of the 2026 Championships, played from 29 June to 12 July.

EventChampionRunner-upFinal score
Gentlemen's singlesJannik Sinner [1]Alexander Zverev [2]6–7(7) 7–6(2) 6–3 6–4
Ladies' singlesLinda Nosková [9]Karolína Muchová [10]6–2 5–7 6–3

Sinner lost the first set on a tiebreak and then took the next three. On the way he beat Novak Djokovic, the seventh seed, 6–4 6–4 6–4 in the semi-final. Zverev reached the final by beating the unseeded Fery in straight sets. Djokovic's own quarter-final against Félix Auger-Aliassime went the full distance and ended in a final-set tiebreak, a good example of how the 10-point rule decides a long match.

The ladies' event was far less orderly. Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, went out in the fourth round to Naomi Osaka. Nosková beat Marta Kostyuk 6–4 6–4 in her semi-final, while Muchová needed a third-set tiebreak to get past Coco Gauff. Two Czech players met in the final, and neither was seeded in the top eight.

In the doubles, Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten won the gentlemen's title, Guo Hanyu and Kristina Mladenovic the ladies', and Marcelo Arévalo and Jeļena Ostapenko the mixed. The 2026 event was also the first Wimbledon with player video reviews on the show courts.

How grass changes Wimbledon betting

The ball skids and stays low on grass, so a big serve wins more cheap points and return games are harder to break. For a bettor that has three consequences.

Tiebreaks are common. We counted every set on the 2026 gentlemen's singles draw sheet. Of the 127 matches, 78 contained at least one tiebreak, and 114 sets in total were settled that way. In the ladies' singles, 34 of 127 matches had a tiebreak. These are our counts from the official sheets, not a published statistic.

Total games run high in the men's event. When sets go to 7–6, a match that looks routine on paper can carry far more games than the line suggests. Twenty-five of the 127 gentlemen's matches in 2026 went to five sets, and fewer than half finished in straight sets. An over on total games is a different bet at Wimbledon than at a clay event, and the Wimbledon odds for totals tend to lag behind that.

Handicaps are less reliable. A favourite who holds serve comfortably can still lose a set to two or three good return points in a tiebreak. Set handicaps of -2.5 on a heavy favourite carry more risk on grass than the gap in ranking implies.

The short grass season adds a fourth point. Form on clay tells you little, and the lead-in events give a small sample. We weight a player's previous Wimbledon results and their serve numbers more heavily than recent ranking points.

Markets and outrights: our view

Everything in this section is our opinion, labelled as such. It is not a forecast backed by a model, and the 2027 draw will not be made until shortly before the event.

Gentlemen's singles. Our view: Sinner starts as the player to beat. He is the defending champion, he won the 2026 final from a set down, and he dropped only one set in the last two rounds. We would expect him to head the Wimbledon odds through the winter, and we see little value in backing him this far out at a short price. Zverev reached the 2026 final as second seed, and in our view he is a better each-way angle than a win bet.

Ladies' singles. Our view: the 2026 event showed how open this draw is. The champion was the ninth seed, the top seed lost in the fourth round and the final had no top-eight player. We prefer a small stake spread across several mid-priced names to a large one on the favourite.

Match markets in week one. Our view: first-round matches between two big servers are where tiebreak and total-games bets earn their place. Before the draw, we do not name specific prices; any figure you see on this site for Wimbledon is an estimate, never an operator quote.

Compare prices across sites before you place an outright, because the margin on a 128-player market is wide. Our page on sites with the best odds explains how we measure that margin.

Where to watch

Wimbledon sells its broadcasting rights country by country, so the national broadcaster that holds the rights is the reliable way to watch. The tournament's own website and app carry live scores, draws and the order of play.

Some betting sites also show a selection of tennis inside a logged-in account. We have listed sites where that is possible, but Grand Slam coverage is not standard and what you can watch depends on the site and on your country, so check before the first round.

Streams are shown to signed-in accounts on selected events, and the list differs between betting sites and between matches. 18+.

More tennis and sports betting

For the rules that apply to every tennis bet, including retirements and how surfaces compare, start with our tennis betting guide. The first Slam of the year has its own page on Australian Open odds and hard-court betting, which makes a useful contrast with grass. Every sport we cover is listed on the sports hub.

Wimbledon odds will shift a great deal between now and the June draw, mostly on the results of the first three Slams and the grass lead-in. We will revise the outright view on this page as that form builds.

When is Wimbledon 2027?
The Championships 2027 run from 28 June to 11 July 2027, according to wimbledon.com. Qualifying is held the week before the main draw. The 2027 edition marks 150 years since the first Championships in 1877.
Who won Wimbledon in 2026?
Jannik Sinner, the top seed, won the gentlemen's singles, beating second seed Alexander Zverev 6-7(7) 7-6(2) 6-3 6-4. Linda Nosková, seeded ninth, won the ladies' singles, beating Karolína Muchová 6-2 5-7 6-3. Both results are taken from the official draw sheets on wimbledon.com.
Why do tiebreaks matter so much in Wimbledon betting?
Serve is harder to break on grass, so sets reach 6-6 more often. In the 2026 gentlemen's singles, 78 of the 127 matches contained at least one tiebreak, by our count of the official draw sheet. That pushes total games up and makes set handicaps less predictable.
How does a final set work at Wimbledon?
Since 2022 every match that reaches 6-6 in the final set is settled by a tiebreak to 10 points. The match can no longer run on indefinitely, which matters for total-games bets on long five-setters.
Are your Wimbledon picks a forecast?
No. Every pick on this page is our opinion and is labelled as such. We do not quote any operator's prices; if a number appears, it is our estimate of a fair price, and the price on offer will differ.
